becker Bk-9 , am I going in the right direction

Hi Fellas, looking to get a large knife for my hiking and hunting packs. I hit the trail for a few days at a time, usually have a few knives on me, including a 7" sp-1 mostly as a utility knife and a 14" condor barong on the main pack. I was thinking to retire these blades and combine tasks with the Becker, reducing some of my trail weight in the process. I think I can get by with a 9" chopper for machete like tasks and I figure the becker can do everything the Sp-1 can. Other contenders I considered were the kershaw camp 10, kabar big brother, ontario Sp-5. One consideration was the becker being better able to handle finesse chores, cooking, even basic butchering. Im not a knife expert though nor collector, so feel free to correct me on anything.

Buying a Becker BK9 was one of the better decisions I've made. I really enjoy mine.

The Becker BK16 (with micarta scales) is my favorite all-around outdoor fixed blade. That said, the BK9 is a close second. You can't go wrong!

The BK16 would pair well with the BK9 for an awesome woods combo.

I really like my Becker 9, I modded the Heck out of it.....
you will still want a small pocket knife for little, tiny things.
I recommend one.

But......... I think/feel the SP-53 is Better.
(chops better, splits better, more comfortable doing so) Big knife using.

I loved my BK9, I highly recommend them. If I didn’t downsize the collection to just essentials, I’d still have it.

I'd say go with the BK-9. Good all around blade. If I was going to get an Ontario, it would be the RTAK II. But, I already have an original Livesay RTAK, it's my favorite medium/heavy outdoor knife, followed by a BK-4.

There is a guy on Ebay who sells scales for most of the Becker series in a bunch of different wood species . Those are both Brazilian Ironwood.
