becker Bk-9 , am I going in the right direction

Beautiful stripper!

Did you etch the emblems?...and if so, with what?
Thanks
Yes, I used a 9volt battery and saltwater.
some pics of all I used . Important to remember blade not stripped surface must be clean, positive goes to ground, and negative goes to Q-tip with saltwater .

I just hold the positive bare wire to the edge. Not the best setup 😁 but it works

As good a choice as the BK9 is, I think I would take the Skrama 240 in its place. If you have room for a 14” parang, the length of the Skrama shouldn’t faze you. You might even find you don’t need the parang.
I like some ability to stab, not that a chopper knife is meant for pig sticking etc but in a pinch you have some capability. Darn good looking knife you recommended though. And yep the plan is to retire the barong from my pack. Save myself half a pound including its rather thick, ungainly sheath.

I mostly use an old leathermans for other tasks, often inefficiently :) so I'll take a look at that one, thanks.

The BK9 is the lightest most capable large knife you are likely to find. I absolutely love mine. It doesn't feel nearly as large as it is during use, even while doing finer tasks. I like the factory scales, I find them to be the exact right amount of grippy without being rough on the hands during heavy use, many replace them with micarta or wood aftermarket scales but I like the weight savings and comfort of the originals. Be careful getting a new sheath that you don't end up with one that is too heavy, large kydex sheaths can take away any weight savings very easily.

Great choice
