I have only held a Becker knife (it was a Campanion) just "in-passing" a couple of years ago, so I don't really know what kind of knife they are or even how they feel in my hand, BUT...I just traded for one, (a BK-9 Combat Bowie), and it's on its' way to me as of earlier today). What's worse, I just put my beloved SOG Trident up for trade (here at BF) for a couple of Camillus/Becker knives (BK-1 & BK-2), a few minutes ago! I sure hope they are as good a knife as everyone says they are. (I DO like the "looks" of 'em, as I'm "into" sturdy knives.).

I don't see how you can go wrong. I just got a BK-7 the other day and am waiting on a BK-9. The 7 feels very comfortable in my hand and am looking forward to using it on a camping trip this weekend. I haven't seen any of the others that you mentioned.

Cheers, Bluey

Dann - congrats on getting your first Becker. If you like "sturdy", then you will not be disappointed with any Becker model. The BK9 is quite a hoss!

:D :D

I have every model but the machax, and now the BK-9, ;) and they are great.

Cerberus.

I acquired a BK9 recently. Not only looks good, it feels great in the hands, too.

I have a CU/7 and no matter what I do, I just can't get used to the grip. I find it uncomfortable and much too thick. I was going to order the BK 9 but now I want to hold one in my first. My hands are a medium size.

The steel definitely holds a good edge, and it's very easy to sharpen and get very sharp. It helps to thin the edge out a little, they come pretty thick from the factory.

Definitely the best knife for the money, despite the shortcomings.

The grips on all the Beckers are identical. The weight and balance of the blades will obviously affect the way they feel in the hand, but the actual size and shape of the grip is always the same from one to another.

Dan,
have a BK9 and a Magnum Camp - awesome knives and super price - gotta be one of best values around - even though Trident is great knife you will be be very happy with Beckers.

Swede - sounds like you need a set of the aftermarket handles from Bill Siegle - would solve your problem - even with cost of new handles the knives are a good deal and the new handles definitely look good and work better.

Bill

bquinlan,

Thanks, that's what I thought.

penguinva,

I agree, the aftermarket grips are probably just the ticket. I might try sanding these down also, don't know if that is possible given my meager equipment.

The sharpness and edge holding of these knives are truly first rate, and when the chips are down, that's probably the most important aspect for me. Enjoy your Beckers, Glockman, I'm sure that you will!

Actually the grip size on the CU7 is a little slimmer than all the rest.
The others are all the same thickness.

Perhaps you should check out Bill Siegle for some Micarta grips.
Ive held them. They are slim and smooth. Very nice improvement.
I personally like the stock grips as well but Ive got pretty big hands.

I have the CU/7 and like it alot. I was looking to buy another knife from another company but the CU/7 was perfect for what I was looking for. I plan on getting the BK-9 and a companion in the near future.

I'll also recommend the BK9! It's one awesome Combat/Utility/Survival knife!!!:D :D :D

Glockman99, I was somewhat skeptical at first also, but finally bought a Magnum Camp because I read so much raves about the BK&T line. I am really glad I did and am planning to get more of this great series of knives. Very sturdy, very well made, very sweet.
Hey, I bought a Buck Nighthawk partly due to your influence from reading your input on these forums (another awesome knife), so I'm hoping to return the favor.

Hey Dann,

I've always been interested in the Becker blades. Let us all know what you think when you get'em.

You parted ways with the Trident!! Unbelievable!!

Well, I received my BK-9 this morning, and...WOW!! I LIKE THIS KNIFE!! The sheath isn't much to "write home about" as the blade rattles arond in it like a pissed-off rattlesnake, but the knife is EXCELLENT! (I think I have a new "favorite"!).

I agree wholeheartedly! SUPER knife! Just heat and remold the kydex or shove a piece of webbing to the bottom of the sheath.:D

Well, I received the BK-2 Campanion today (along with a Cold Steel Recon Scout and an Ontario Spec-Plus 6 inch Fighter) that I traded my SOG Trident for, so that makes 2 EXCELLENT Camillus/Becker knives that I have in my "collection" (so far...). These Beckers are some STOUT knives!

Edited to add: I have "assigned" the BK-2 Campanion to my wife (the BK-9 Combat Bowie IS MINE!!), just in-case we are ever under attack by hostiles.:).

Yeah, Glockman, good idea- you never know when you might see a badger attack! Everyone here is really surprised you'd like these knives.:D

Yes, the Beckers are a great bang for the buck. I use my CU7 when my son and I go camping on Mt. Rainier...just an idea. :D
