Becker BK2, for a solo survival knife.

I've heard that the Bushman has nighmares involving a BK2. Some say a tribe of Bushmen chose 1 BK2 over a lifetime supply of CS Bushmans. This is heresay, and only speculative.
I've considered the Bushman for use as a spear, but feared the shaft hole would just spread open due to my significant power.
I don't always take one knife with me, but when I do, it's the BK2. Cut responsibly.

Another vote for the BK2. Has quickly become one of my favorites.

Only issue is, it needs a stiffer sheath on top. The web belt clip doesn't handle the weight. Flops around. Actually needed to use the leg tie. (LOL)

But you can't beat it for the money. Little tank.

I love my CS ak47 with auto lock but I will admit that they do have some real bad lemons like the pocket bushman

I would have no worries bringing my BK-2 out to the wilderness by itself. And by "by itself" I mean the BK-2 + an Izula.

Ideally, I'd rather bring a Rat, er, I mean ESEE RC-4, a KaBar Large Heavy Bowie and an Izula. But if I had to bring just 1 (plus the Izula) then the BK-2 makes sense.

No question the BK2 is the best deal out there. The new ones have the exposed pommel and are a bit lighter and the sheaths secure the knife without the retention strap. I use mine with a piece of leather screwed to the back to make the belt loop. It works great.

The bushman handle is not welded but the handle of the bowie blade version of the bushman is welded closed so it won't open up if used as a spear. It's good value but not as impressive as the BK2.

I think you should get both. The BK2 as your bushcraft/survival knife and the Bowie Bushman "on a stick" as your back-up/hunting/self defense tool! Add a Victorinox alox Pioneer or Farmer and you'd be set to concor the wild!

OK, because of you I just ordered the Bowie Bushman from amazon for $23. Since you provoked my purchase you can send me $23 to XXXXX@hotmail.com :D

I held one at the Cold Steel parking lot sale last weekend and it was pretty decent and like I said the handle is welded along the back, Bowie version only. The regular bushman is not welded.

It make sense to have this and the BK2. The Bushman will make a great spear tip or extended cutting tool for reaching branches you wouldn't otherwise be able to reach...thinking of high fruit or nuts or leopard on a branch, you get the picture!

I can only see the bushman working as a spear if you need reach wouldn't a nice condor golok work better

Well despite the lasered out......... ah hell, forget it. I'll pull the rag out of my butt on that and just say that I love the BK-2. Really, you have to feel it in hand and look at the chunky blade and along the thick spine. It has chopped for me, shaved wood for me, and ripped stumps apart. Your $$ will be well spent.

I say BK2, it isn't going to let you down no matter what you do to it.

I got my bowie bushman in the mail today...awesome knife for $23!

I did a cutting test on wood between it and my BK2 and it cuts/carves wood noticeably easier or better how ever you say that.

I'm glad I got it and I say definitely get both. If I was on a tight budget I'd be content with the bushman.
