I just got my new becker 7 and I love it. after playing with it a little bit a started to think about put a psk in large pounch on the sheath.I know most of us here share a same brain can you guys share what put in yours. Any pics would be cool. I starting to think it was a mistake finding this forum because I can stop thinking about or buying knives and survival items thanks:)

Welcome EagerRunner! Your BK7 sheath is similar to my Rat7 sheath.

Mine really isn't a PSK, though i'd like it to be.
I carry a gerber 600 multi-tool side-x-side with a Wenger Mountaineer knife in the pouch. It's tight, but they both fit.

For survival, try figuring out how to get some firestarting equipemnt in there.
Maybe a mini-bic, a firesteel , and some tinder. (Always need back up.)

The attached pouch fills up real fast!

Let us know what you come up with.

I've seen Altoids tin kits in them. You might try a search in this forum for "Altoids."

google V Shrake survival knife and An iteresting take on what you're trying to do will come up, this guy is sort of one of my survival gurus he has numerous articles on the net about building psk's but he has one specifically built around a large knife w/ pics and all good luck.

Here are a couple pics of mine. The gear lives in an Altoids tin, along with a bottle of iodine tablets.

LB 50 great looking sheath kit. where did you get the micarta handles for your BK7? How did you toughen up the bottom of the sheath? rangerbands i.e. bike inner tube? Need to get my hands on those. Thanks - DS

LB50...
Beside paperclip , safety pins, and matches what are the other items in the tin??? Looks real good.
Thanks

Check out the new Aqua Mira chlorine dioxide tablets. They will sit flat in the tin and do a much better job of purifiying your water and there's no taste.

darthstrevel, thanks. The handles came from Camillus. They were a real mess when I got them and even though I didn't use sandpaper (I used potscrubber sponge) I kept them underwater while working on them and wore a mask. Yep, those are bicycle innertube bands (ranger bands). I put them on everything that will hold them.

slamer, There are (4) fish hooks, couple of flies, (4) split shot, SS wire, 4# fly leader line, 12# spyderwire line, a couple of the spark-lite tinder, BSA Hotspark tool, Victorinox keychain SAK, cheap LED, 2 trick candles, sewing needle, ink pen cartridge, ibuprofen, benedryl, antimicrobial wipe and bandaid. The ziploc is a freezer grade 1 gallon bag for extra water carry and it wouldn't fit into the tin when I added the sparking tool, so it rides in the pouch. I placed some HD aluminum foil in the lid of the tin, but didn't put it in the photo.

DaleW, I have been wanting to upgrade the iodine and will when it expires. I picked up some MP1 tabs from Katadyn that I keep with my canteen and in a few other kits. The stuff works great, but is fairly corrosive and poisonous according to Katadyn, so my SAK will see handling duties for sure.

I've been looking for a good long knife accessory pouch for a PSK/tool holder. Something like the Nite Ize pouch. Nothing new there--- miltary organizations have been doing it for a long time, but I want *just* the right one. Call me Goldilocks

eager runner, the BCB tin you are looking at is 1/2" wider than the Altoids tin, which is a tight squeeze in the pouch. With that in mind and I could be wrong, but I don't think that it will fit.

I am jealous that an altoids tin will fit in your pouch.
Well, actually happy for you BK7 owners. :)

The Rats sheath pouch has some front to back depth, but is more akin to a pistol Mag pouch.

You guys are good to go with PSK space (So to speak).

What kind of mess? Why underwater with a potscrubber and a mask?

I've been thinking of a BK7 with micarta handles, but if it will require too much reworking, I may not be up to the challenge.

On my BK1 Brute I did a nice neon yellow 2mm cord wrap on my handle with some black paracord woven in horizontally along the sides closer to the spine to fill my palm better. Looking at the handle of my new BK9 I imagine the same method would work and feel pretty good. In terms of function I find it more grippy as well as comfortable plus it is easier to spot at night. Plus its an extra few feet or cord if needed. Cheers.

I put a Garmin GPS pouch on the front of my BK7, BK9 & Battle Rat.
Makes it a little heavy for belt carry, so I usually strap my blade to the side of a bergen or daypack.
Not got a pic to hand of my BK7, but heres my BK9. The pouch is pretty much the same on ALL 3 knives.

I was probably being over careful, but micarta dust can make ya real ill if it gets into your lungs and because I've worked with abalone, which because it is very toxic when the dust gets into the lungs, it is worked underwater, I did the same with the micarta.

Mess? This is how they arrived.

Mike - I'm still in awe of this setup. Assuming you are right handed and this rig rides on your "strong side", I'd be interested to know what belt scabbard you pack your heater in, and if the positioning of the drop leg gear causes any issues with the holster, or accessing/deploying your blade.
