I received the BK7 last week, and finally got around to trying it out.
I was asked why it was still black, and this is why.
I tested this straight from box, no modding, no stripping, no sharpening, in stock sheath. I didn't even snug up the handle screws (they are usually not quite 100% snug).
First, the sheath. They have changed slightly, and for the better.
MOLLE back
velcro/snap belt loop
velcro on the handle snap..so it fits better, as snug or loose as you need.
Elastic on the pouch, snugs it down nicely (BK13 not included, sold separately)
Pristine. The F&F was great on my example, nice edge, pretty sharp, I could shave with it.
I needed a good baton..so I crossgrain batoned thru this very very hard ancient oak table leg.
Job well done, uh-oh...I marred the coating!
Did a lil chop test on the hard oak, the 7 performed very well...it's got a nice ''feel'' to it when chopping.
Then I decided to make a ''one-stick, one-match'' fire.
Drug a piece of seasoned hardwood block from the woodpile (at least 9 months old)
After all the batoning, the 7 was still more then up to do fine work..edge is holding up very well.
My Dad's Ol Reliable, he had this made when in the very early '80s..makes the BEST hamburgers!
gettin a lil more wore...
makes a good grate-lifter
Success! The 7 was very handy during the whole process....just felt good. Performed admirably.
I wanted to test the 7 a lil harder...see if it was as tough as it's big brother, the King9.
That's the longest, gnarliest, knottiest block I could find.
The 7 laughed at it, and went right through it like it was butter (I admit I was a lil impressed).
