Greetings!

I am looking to purchase one of these two blades for my camping/survival knife and want to get your thoughts on which of the two options you think would be best for the job (if not equal)

Thanks!

Either should work for a camp knife. For me both are a tad long for the belt unless you keep them in your pack. I have the BK-7. If you believe that you are willing to carry the BK-7, I'd bounce up to the BK-9. It will perform chopping better.

Hope you intend to carry a folder as well.

Condor makes the Moonshiner and Ironpath that are of similar size to the BK-9.

I voted BK7. I have a big hand and the BK7 is more comfortable to me and I like the thumb ramp tbh. Either are a good choice.

My opinion:

Turok
Pros
Much better sheath. Like...light years better.
Nice belly and a bit shorter blade.
Smoother coating.
More neutral ergonomics
Stock scales have a bit more texture.
Jesse is a cool designer

Cons
Large swedge
Only two scale fasteners
Very little aftermarket support

BK7
Pros
Three fasteners on scales
Upgradable scales
Ethan Becker (treasure in the knife community)
Usable pommel.
Lots of aftermarket support for scales and sheaths.
*BeckerHead community*

Cons
Sheath not great
Coating a bit rougher
Thumb ramp can be polorizing

Verdict: Buy Both.

Love my BK7

And I think the sheath is just fine. :) just not as sexy as a nice kydex or leather one.

There is nothing wrong with the stock scales. The Becker handles are one of the things that make the knive good.
Both knives are a good choice .

Hmm... I think I prefer the Jarosz handle for regular knife use, basically everything leading up to wood processing. However, sense that can be a use of a survival knife, I think a BK7 would be the way to go, of the two. I voted BK7 but it's pretty darn close, IMO.

I prefer my ratweiler, so I don't have extensive experience with the two knives mentioned but I did have the smaller globetrotter and still have a BK4 which have very similar handles of the knives mentioned. I think it comes to personal preferences but both would serve the purpose of a hard use, one-knife option, if you must only have one knife I guess. Maybe get the one that's cheaper or get a used one to save some coin. Whichever comes up on the exchange first.

To muddy the waters a little more, I like the esee 6 for such a use. It comes with a nice sheath and a more useful blade design than the above two, even if simply for the lack of a swedge if you desire batonning wood.
