Becker BK9

Have you had a chance to chop with it yet? If not, you're in for waaay more happiness than you could imagine possible! Now, "get to zee choppah!!!"

Too funny Kero. I did chop a few oak limbs that were about six months old so they were as hard as wood pecker lips. And it went right through. Very impressive considering my Kershaw and Cold Steel choppers took a couple whacks.

Since you're interested in the 15, check out my 30 day BK15 EDC thread. I did a bunch of stuff with mine for what turned out to be over 40 days, kept logs of my use in the thread, them posted up my final review. The link to the final review is near the end of the main thread on the last page.

Hrm, can't get the tablet I'm on to paste the link.. If you wanna read it, it's near the bottom of this page of threads or at the top of page 2.

Edit: Here's the link.

Hey Bently......

Welcome!!!...... Many thanks for your interest, your purchase and the kind words...... I do hope your Becker blade works well for you......

Ethan

The factory accessory Micarta is quite good and of course the guys will chime in with a bunch of others..... If you get the factory Micarta, a little judicious sanding with some 220 grit garnet paper will give you a smooth but slightly grippy surface.....too much "grippy" will get you hotspots and worse after prolonged use.... It is a balance...... The stock grips have always worked just fine for me but, I have Micarta on a couple and love the look.... E

There is a reason why it is often said that, "You can't not have a Nine." The BK-9 is king, so good at so many things - one of my favorites.

Comparison to a leaf spring is not unfair nor unflattering. As referenced, leaf springs provide years of trouble free service even in the face of poor maintenance, neglect and abuse. I clean and coat my Beckers with mineral oil as soon as practicable after use more out of respect and habit than anything else - but they are hearty knives that give much and seek little in return.

The BK-15 is a great handy all-arounder that punches above its weight and is available at bargain prices since word of its being discontinued surfaced. Apparently the aesthetics aren't much favored but I absolute adore it and lit's big brother, the BK-5.

Have fun with your 9; good choice!

Got to admit I don't use mine as much as I should. Congrats on the new steel.

The sweet thing about the Bk9 is that it feels like a smaller knife in hand. You can do delicate tasks with it easily.

Ethan Becker replied to my post?! Well sir you have made my day. The rest of you don't count anymore. Lol! Just kidding gotta love the support on this forum! You guys are the best. Sorry I didn't respond sooner I had to work all day. Ok what I do can't really be called work. I spent all day underwater shooting fish. Look me up on Instagram you'll see I don't really "work". Bently71 on Instagram. Or destin_spearfishing_adventures thanks again everyone. And if any of you every make your way down to Destin Florida I'll take you out for a little underwater adventure. Especially you Ethan! But you gotta design me a dive knife out of unobtainium.

I agree Salty. It's my new favorite knife hands down. And yes it does feel smaller than it actually is. I find myself not wanting to leave home without it. My Esee 3 is more practical but who cares? This is way cooler.

Works not always boring. Sometimes we have to pay the "tax man"

Great choice in the king as a first. If you are thinking about a 15 for your next I can't recommend it enough. For the money it can't be beat. I use mine almost daily. I bought it because of the incredible value it is right now but wish I'd have gotten it years ago. It's just a very handy knife to have around. It's a very slicey knife but also thick enough to be very tough.

Yeah longneck I think I'm sold on the 15. Where's that Amazon app again? Take my money please!

That clear coat version gets me all hot and bothered lol. The green scales I could do without, maybe if they where darker green. Congrats on your BK9! Think I'm getting a 5 first, but 9 is on the never ending list of must haves lol

Had to do it! You all cost me $$$ you talked me into the 15. Had to get a new rib knife. Lol
