Beautiful pics Springy, thanks for sharing with others what i refer to as Gods country. Looks like you had an awesome day mate, me and you will have to go out one day if im ever up in your kneck of the woods.
Tell me more about that Bob cooper survival kit? Havent seen one before? what are they worth? I have the identical boots! i ordered them from Cabelas in the US, great boots but they tend to get a bit too toasty for my feet. But wouldnt hesitate strapping them on in winter they are superb qaulity, only wish i could wear them more.
Where i work, i was talking to a collegue this morning who is a Paramedic about my bush trips with my boy and my constant worrying of snakes he is getting me some purposely made snake bite bandages the Ambos use that arent availabe to the public. If i get a few ill send one your way brother.
He tells me Eastern browns will strike low, giving you more time, but King browns strike high often hitting the Torso - giving you a very short window to get treated.
Anyway mate great pics and awesome thread (especially like the 1st pic)
Cheers Gas
Cheers my brother. Would love to host ya if you ever came up. The ultimate trek that I've wanted to do since I was 16 is to start at the 3 sisters at Katoomba and head due south through the valley staying on the western side of that massive dam until you get to Ivan Milats old "hunting" grounds then head east to get picked up somewhere around Berrima or Mittagong. That would be huge.
The kit I bought after seeing a prototype owned by Bobs good friend Rich Hungerford. He's ex-SAS and runs all sorts of survival courses in the hinterland west of the Sunshine Coast. Did a course with Rich a while back. Super top bloke. He was the primary wilderness survival instructor for the SAS for many years. The kits pretty cool but is just a back up in case I lose everything else I have. I've changed a few things in it to make it better though. I think I paid around 80 bone for it.
Yeah those boots are awesome but I hear you man. Get your sweat box on! I put up with it knowing that it should (should) stop a bite. Bloody king browns though. Didn't know they struck so high! They're probably wielding BK9s as well!
Mate, if you sent me one of those bandages I'd be eternally grateful. Probably a knack to using them though. You're a true brother. Thanks heaps Gas..
Yeah Springy,
I heard once than an explorer preparing to go to Australia went to the library and asked for books on all the venomous, and poisonous critters in Australia to take with him. They told him he would need a truck, so he said ok how about a list of all the critters that Arent dangerous. The Librarian went to the desk and scribbled on a napkin, then handed it to him. it said " Some of the sheep"
Silverthorn, that's one of the funniest jokes I've ever heard! I nearly wet myself laughing! It's made my week! Hilarious bro! Love it!
LOL.
That's crazy stuff BeeKay. Just watched some vids of the eastern brown. Damn are those things fast and hostile! Would not want to cross paths with one of those.
I thought this video of Jumping jacks was pretty cool too. Again, creatures I would not want to see around.

Yeah bud, easterns KNOW how toxic they are so they'll take on anything.
Those jumping Jacks are viscious little turds. And man they hurt so bad! I only got stung a few times on the feet but I was nearly in tears from it. Love that video though! The sound effects were hilarious!
