The tan color on the desert Beckers is fairly light; I usually think of tan as being darker. I do like the color along with the grips; it's unfortunate the desert version was discontinued. It's a great knife, especially for the price.
I will send you some photos I saved from the internet.
It does look very light in color. It doesn't at all look cheap. I love mine! I've got a BK91 desert. I wouldn't sell mine for twice the price. Two and a half, well...
Thanks to the both of you  Paddlingman I have noticed in many of your post you have so many of the blades that I have wanted or ordered ie.( Becker , Ranger , Ratweiler ) your input has been very helpful .
jsonnier - No problem! I'm glad I could help! I didn't mentally connect the two threads I had responded to until this last post! You're on the right track... or at least the same "devil's road" as me!
I was quite disappointed with the desert tan. I REALLY wanted to like these, but I doubt I'd even like it on a BK-5! (IMHO, the best ever BK&T knife ever put out there.) I liked the handle color, but the blade color was a little too "pastel" for me. :barf: I think if the color was darker, it would have been much better received, and still selling/on the market. The handles worked, the sheath worked, the blade.... :barf:
I find nothing wrong with the light tan coating, it looks wonderful actually. I do however have problem with the handle. I wish camillus would finally do something about it and make it right.
