Could anyone let me know why Becker stopped producing their camp knife? It seems like a great utility style pattern. I was looking forward to getting one a couple of years ago and when I got around to doing it I found out that they had dropped the design from their line.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you still want one, shoot me an email, I have one NIB. I assume you're talking about the one designed by Jerry Fisk.

The Becker Magnum Camp - BK5 designed by Jerry Fisk... awesome knife! I love mine :)

There's a few on the secondary market, and yep it was killed because the "market" wanted traditional clip point bowies rather than the slightly upswept style of the BK5.

Thats a sweet looking knife. None available on ebay, of course. Dang Camillus.

I have or have had just about every model of the BK&T line and without exception I think that the Magnum Camp was bestest of the bunch. It is light, swift in the hand, sharp, and even is a good chopper since you can whip it so fast in the hand.

Wish I had bought 2 when I bought mine!

Ciao

It took me a couple of years to get one for myself. It was not designed for bells and whistles but to do light to medium jobs with no nonsense about it. Thanks guys for the kind words.

Mr. Fisk, you did a great job on the BK5. mine is wearing the Camillus micarta handles that help slim the handle a bit and give it a bit of grip. too bad the BK 5 didn't do as well as the other BK models... i'm glad i have mine!

 :D

Mikjk, I had thinned mine down as well, then put a convex edge on it. You talk about kicking the cut up on that rascal it really did. I use mine a lot.
Prehaps it is not the place to do this but since we are talking about production knives and one I had something to do with, besides I will not be hurting Camillus looks like anyway.I am currently in the process of starting up my own small production company. I am shooting for first of the year for the first run to be out. Small numbers only each month. Small pieces and then one mid size. I am not trying to compete against the big boys, just offer something no one else is and on a limited amount only. I will be asking where I can put up the info and what area I need to do it in. Back to our regular scheuled program.

Thanks, when it is time I will be letting folks know on this forum for sure.

Mr. Fisk, would you be considering a BKT-5 style in an S30V??? I got a BKT-5 from Camullus as a second and find I use it the most! I love that knife.

Will

Will, that is a good idea but I cant dabble with Ethans line. I have to do something else. I will do a few smaller knives with my little line up and a mid size knife that I think yall will really like. The small ones come our first as they help us learn how and what we are doing.
S30V does hold up well. I remember when Rob and I tested a couple of pieces head to head and did a few different grinds to play with. Neither trying to outdo the other but for the sake of learning, that was what made it fun for both of us. I will be staying with a oil quenched 10 series steel that has a special coating that we have been playing with. Be the first of the year or after till we are ready. I will talk to the powers that be when it is time and see if we can get our own forum section or whatever it takes to let yall know at that time.

nice! personally, i would love to see a BK5-esque mid-sized knife... say 5" - 6" with a very similar profile as the BK5. the handles would be different of course (slimmer), but i would want the finger choil in from of the guard to be maintained. i would love to see S30V as the steel, but a good carbon steel would be more than adequate.

just dreaming.... :p

i hope all goes well with this new enterprise Mr. Fisk! :D

I want one pretty bad. Dag nabbit.
