Becker Extremes

looks great. then i did a curency conversion its about £200 with out delivary ot tax!!!!!!

still is v v v nice tho.

I really like the look of that one, plus the use of s30v. I have a BK9 and love it, I may have to get one of those, but I agree that the MSRP seems a little outrageous, at least for a mass produced piece.

Lagarto

edited to add: try this link. I found them for pre-order at crocblades for almost $150 less than MSRP.

That looks great. But the price is sort of a deterrent. Of course, the steel has been upgraded considerably. Any idea if they will have this peice in 9inch version?

That price is ridiculous!

for the same street price, you can get a TOPS DART: S30V with paul bos heat treat, micarta, 3/16" thick full flat grind. who on earth would buy one of these things?

look at the swamp rat ratweiler. $180 and you get a great blade.

ranger knives RD-7, $80 for an awesome blade.

heck you can even get a busse for that price!

the beckers are supposed to be a good value, but this one is just crazy expensive.

Cool knife, s30v for a chopper is kind of questionable choice. For 400 dollars you could easily do the busse, fehrman or strider thing. A street price around $240 would put them back in business I think, I sure hope that this extreme ends up tougher than the regular bk7.

For $230 I could get a Fehrman Shadow Scout, or two Swamp Rats. Both would be better suited to chopping, and about the Shadow Scout would vlice like a razor. It would have been great if the Extremes had been more affordable, I dont think they are going to take off at that price.

You guys are so right. For that price you could buy a Busse  The thing I have always admired about the BK7/9 was that for the money it was one, if not the best, knife out there. I agree, if the going price is going to be any where near the MSRP, then it will never get off the ground. I am really interested in hearing other people's oppinion on this. I myself would probably never buy one.

I could buy one Extreme or seven maybe eight regular BK7s...
I have no idea what it cost them to make these but I am afraid that they cost more then most would be willing to pay. I for one will have to pass.

 THIS IS THE DECIDING QUESTIAN :ee

What will the warantee be? If it is only a limited lifetime one then no one will buy it. Busse/ Swamp Rat has an unconditional warrantee for less in some cases.

Does anyone know if the price of using s3v would more/less/the same as using s30v? I know everyone likes their stainless, but l6 toughness with m2 edge holding is something I could go for, even if it means a coated blade.

I was really looking forward to the Becker Extremes. I can't afford it though. I was thinking they would be only twice as much.

That's actually a pretty fair way to look at it. No doubt that one of the most appealing elements of Beckers is that you get so much knife for such a reasonable price. I have a hard time imagining the scores of loyal Beckerites (I think I just made up a term for us... :p ) going from paying $50-75 for our favorite knives to $390.00. That's one heck of a price jump. I know it's not an identical knife, but as was already pointed out, it is still a production knife.
