Becker Extremes

Comparing the BK77 MSRP of $391 to the BK7 street price of about $50 is not a valid comparison. If you follow the link above to CrocBlades.com, you will see their price for the BK77 is $235.50, and as much as I like Busses, you will not find a new 7" blade Busse for $235.50.

S30V steel is not the toughest steel in existence, but from what I have read it is pretty good, and it has been used in some high quality knives (Simonich, Strider and others). How will the S30V toughness compare to the BK7's 0170-6C steel - only testing will tell for sure, although I would guess the BK77 is tougher than the BK7. S30V will certainly be more corrosion resistant than 0170-6C.

I'm looking forward to handling the new Extreme, especially to see how the new grips feel. The BK77 looks nice!

Even $230 is a bit high for production knife with questionable heat treat. If the Extremes come with rebate, I'll just have to pick one up :D

BUSSE COMBAT KNIVES - NATURAL OUTLAW

BK-2

$257.00

A little searching effort and voila! the spoiler to the becker extreme. A special congrats to the first to guess where this is for sale.

HOWEVER

the new BK77 does beat the pricewise snot out of what would seem to be its closest categorical competitors, striders. I'm somewhat curious to see if the old bk7 holds up better than this new bk77. S30v is an excellent steel, but not especially shock resistant or inherently flexible.

$257 was the price for the discontinued Busse NO-E. I think the base price of the new Busse NO is $287 without a sheath, and satin finish is at least $45 extra; these are only available on a limited production schedule.

It will be interesting to see which is tougher, the BK7 or BK77.

i'd pay a hella lot more for a busse than to pay for a becker. INFI is worth it. at 287 + sheath + satin finish + choice micarta, the SFNO is STILL a MUCH better value than the becker at a street price of 200-something. the busse will last forever. can the becker say the same? i haven't heard on any warranty yet so the jury is still out there...

oh yeah and swamp rat and ranger knives still kick all sorts of ass for little cash.

Not quite as good as a Busse, but a Fehrman Shadow Scout can be had for a little over $200. 6" blade of CPM 3V Not as good as INFI, but better than S30V for a large-ish fixed blade.

WOW............Can you say sticker shock? I will have to say I was looking forward to seeing and possibly getting one, but not at that price. I can break my BK 7 and BK 9 and replace them a few times before I get to $300.00 and I think that might take quite awhile for me to do that. I am sure some have mentioned it, but I was hoping to see a Bk 7 or 9 with 2" to 3" of serrations at the bottom of the blade..........that would be kewl. By no means am I doubting the craftsmenship of this PRODUCTION knife, I think the blame should go on the marketing team, very poor job boys. I would be more than willing to eat my words if they sell a ton, but I don't think it will happen.

Well said. I could not agree more. the serrations would be a great idea, as long as they are functional, not like the ones on the Sog Seal Pup. Once again, well said.
