So in another thread I started someone said that the bk1 was not really 100% designed by Ethan, but by someone else (with a not so good reputation). Anyway, what other Becker knives are not designed by Ethan I know about the bk5, bk14, bk15, BRK and now the bk1.

What other ones are there?

I guess I never really thought about it. Is Ethan expected to author all of his own designs or is it OK with this community that he sponsors some of them?

The bk12 is a colab. As well as some that you've already mentioned. I'm pretty sure it's all good.

My understanding is that Ethan at least had his hand in all the collabs. Though the 5 and RBK I think are pretty much Blades by Mr Fisk, and Mr Reinhardt, with Ethans famous handles.
The 14 is Ethans Blade on Esee's handle.
The 12 is a genuine collab I believe.
The 15 is just a scaled down 5, once again with Ethans handle design.
The 1, I dont know as much about as I might like, But I do know that there were some issues with that process.

The 5 is a Jerry Fisk design/collab. The 15 is a scaled down version.

The never-produced 8 was designed by a Camillus committee.

The 12 is a Doug Ritter design/collab.

The 14 is a BK&T and ESEE hybrid.

The Reinhart Kukri is a Hank Reinhart design/collab.

I do not know how much input E had on the 5, 12, and RBK, but they all bear E's handles.

Ethan is a pretty smart guy. When he sees something that works, or a maker/designer that has it all together, he wants to work with them.

BK5/15- Becker and Fisk
RBK- Becker and Reinhardt
BK1- Becker and Stewart
BK14/24- Becker/Randall/Perrin
BK3- Becker/Benner
BK8- Community knife.....Ethan didn't have much but the handle in it..
BK12- Becker/Ritter

Phil Gibbs was apart of the BKT world during the Camillus days, Paul Tsujimoto was a part of the BKT world in the early Kabar days. Jason has been a part of it since Toooj left Kabar.

Stewart was a part of BKT during the Blackjack days.

Make no mistake, if it says Becker on it, Ethan's in it.

Sole designs that are Ethan 100%........BK2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 13, 16, 18, and so on....

Everyone that has contributed to BKT has been more than worthy, and the fact that Ethan can see that and moves on it, makes him not just a good designer, but a great one. No one person has all the answers, but a group of people just may.

Moose, can you say more about Benner? That's new intel for me. I've never asked E about it.

John was a Cincy SWAT member/team leader/trainer/badass. Him and E got together to make the TacTul (BK3) for an interior breaching tool that can be toted on a vest or leg rig. The idea was poppin' locks and hinges inside of buildings during raids and interventions. The hook was a cord grabber, and all the angles played in the design based on what Mr. Benner saw would be a benefit based on years of kickin' doors and ass.

It was later modified into the DivTul and ResQTul, to suit other needs. Shortened, lengthed, stainless, full serrations, sans serrations and so on. They are out there and float up occasionally.

SHOT show 3 years ago, we met a Vegas SWAT member, a rather stalwart fellow, some would refer to as "a helluva big ass guy". About 6'5" 320lbs and about 2% body fat. Hands like tennis racquets. He came to the show to replace his BK3. He told us he carried in on his raid vest, and used it daily for breaching doors and windows. Loved it. Said he broke it trying to breach a steel door on a meth lab the week prior. Turns out it was a 2" thick steel door, with a rotary hatch lock like on a battle ship. They used C4 to open it after his TacTul broke.

I gave him a new one and a BK11.

So, it's original purpose is still as viable today, but with many new uses as well.

Mr. Benner now runs TDI, another line of Kabar knives, with one of his newest designs, the MasterKey.

Beat, bash, break.........Cincy SWAT at it's finest.
