Sigh...just ordered bacon from Benton's...guy on phone said there was no mistake on the website...5 week delay...
 
I needed some immediate bacon gratification, so I stopped by the local purveyor and grabbed a pound and a half.
When the Bentons shows up, I plan to do a blind taste test with my family.

mmmmmm.......bacon!

So hungry...these bacon threads always influence my breakfast choices if I check them out before I eat :)
 
Happily, I started cooking some bacon before reading this thread. So bacon is ready to go. Unhappily, it's the cheap stuff from Costco, rather than anything tasty local. I will be ordering a few pounds of Benton's to try out here 6 weeks out from xmas though.

We know Broadbent's well. My wife is from very near there and we hit it when we paddle the big lakes. Their bacon can hold a candle to anyone's and their hams are unparalleled. One of their hams sold for 500K once at auction.
 
You guys are making me hungry. I will probably drive past Bentons this coming week. Think I may just have to give the bacon a try. I have been told that they usually have the bacon in their shop, but perhaps not is sufficient quantities to ship. Their country hams are good too. If there is no bacon, I'll get a cured country ham.
