Having read for years about what a fearsome foe the Gurkha can be and, the literature is full of tales of heroism , derring do and their love of blade first, gunpowder second prowess on the field of battle, is how small statured they are.....My first glimpse of a Gurkha was standing guard in front of the British embassy in Bangkok.......It looked as if a small child had borrowed daddy's FN........The rifle was almost as long as the Gurkha was tall......I wondered at the time how many people made the mistake of underestimating these guys because of their size ...... And died ..........

Byron Farwell has a great introductory book on the Gurkhas....l.It is a quick, fun read, fascinating and worth tracking down on ABE Books.......

As a small hill tribe they have had a helluva impact......
