Rocky,

Speaking of porn, did you ever post that 2nd Ilbruche-modded Becker that you picked-up?

That is cool. The Becker that started it all  Sounds like he's bringing it back with Kabar too.

Not yet....I need batteries for the camera

How about some of the ones Ilbruche shot of it? I take no credit for the brilliance of his photos or his work...just appreciate that he gave me a heads-up that it was for sale.

OK Mr. Needham,

What's the deal? And yes, I see you there. :)

It looks like a Camillus-made Machax.

Rocky,

That is as good as porn gets without naked women.... I've said it before, Ilbruche is the man!

Tknife,

I'm glad to hear that Ka-Bar is bringing back the Machax... I was pretty unimpressed by models posted in a "preview" thread here recently. I like most of the old models.. I have a Camp knife and the Machax, would like to get a Brute sometime too.

Doc-Canada,

I almost titled my thread "Doc-Canada, I'm calling you out"! I told you a while back that I really wanted one of these but I have been trying to cut back on purchasing recently (got outta control there for a while!). I missed the CT. get-together to stay home this weekend for my wife's B-day party, and this magically arrived in the mail today (think I'll keep this woman for a while....). How do I tell where it was made? It says "BK&T Cinncinnati, USA" on one side and "Becker Machax" on the other. Love the feel regardless....

I read somewhere around the web (maybe on here?) that Ethan said he's bringing back all the models. I assume and hope that means the Machax too.

Excellent Becker.....one model I liked but never picked up.....I heard Ethan was bringing back all models but the Brute & Machax,I could be wrong ? What are the red drops? Blood?

TTD,

No blood, just drops of stain from my wood shed, probably had the bucket there... Were the Brute and Machax not commercially successful? I don't get it.

Congratulations, Mr. N. That sounds like it is one of the Becker originals (same as mine). What threw me off is the blade colour. Maybe they made them in both satin and with a coating.

This is a product review for the Cincinatti Machax as it appeared in American Survival Guide. If you have problem reading it, and you want it, I have it in a Word Document I can send you.

A little Machax porn of my own:

Machax-2.jpg

The Machax, as you know, is my absolute favourite large knife. Cliff Stamp did a review of the Machax which did not come off really well, but it was the Camillus version he tested and they used a different steel (0170-6). The original, as you can see from the ASG report, it's 4140 (not that I know what the difference is :o )

I have that report too, if you want it. It's 330 kb.

Also, congratulations on your wife! What is the date of her birthday? She must be a Taurus (mine is the 22nd :D). She doesn't have a sister in Ontario, does she?:o

BTW, where did she find it? E-bay?

That's not a Camillus Machax. That's one of the originals made by Ethan. In Cincinnati.

If you want info about the originals, you might contact Bladite. He has more Machaxes than anyone I know. I actually sold him the only Cincinnati Machax I owned. If it was going to go to someone, he's the guy I wanted to own it.

Some of his stable...

not sure if they were successful or not but I am glad I snagged a BK1"Brute".... Hey Doc My wife is a Taruas(4-28) as well and when it comes to sneeking a blade she 90-98% of the time nails the perfect blade for me.....it does help that I gave her a list
any blade from:RAT Cutlery,Busse, scrapyard, swamprat,Becker,BRK&T,just to name the fixed blades:D

Doc & Guyon,

Thanks for the info, the only review that I had seen prior to those was Cliff Stamp's, but I gather he is a somewhat controversial figure.... My wife did pick it up off e-bay (she paid $125, not bad...). Liking it so far!

TTD,
I cheat too! I have been placing Machaxs in our e-bay "my e-bay" account on the watch list for a long time, just to monitor selling price, but it is a great place for my wife to pick out gifts from....

:D:thumbup: Great minds think alike ;)

Hey MN,

It's not much of a shoulder rig, just a long belt, Baldric (sp?) style, with brass snare wire wrapped around the buckle. In the picture, I have a Mora case taped to the belt.

Doc,

Thanks. I wore my Machax around the land today and it wasn't entirely comfortable on my leg when I was moving around. I didn't use a leg tie, but I am not real crazy about those anyways... I might have to play with the baldric concept a little..
