Becker Necker, Carbon San mai

Hey everybody.....

I had a long talk with Paul at Ka-Bar yesterday and as a result there is GREAT JOY and THANKSGIVING on Half Moon Ridge here in east Tennessee!!!

The Plain Carbon NECKERs are shipping as are the BK2 CAMPANIONs, BK3 TACTOOLs, BK7 COMBAT UTILITY and the BK9 COMBAT BOWIEs.....I have had the production samples for only a few days and am still taking pictures of them...but I have been testing the NECKER fairly extensively and am happy to say that the production NECKERS are performing splendidly !!!..

I am really impressed with this steel as it is cooked by the Ka-Bar folks and they have a well deserved reputation for consistency and high standards of Quality control.....I am convinced that one of the primary reasons is that Paul is a real "Knife Guy"who collects as well as spending considerable time afield.....

I spent a good bit of time this afternoon trimming and shaping bamboo, batonning notches in green maple and green smooth bark hickory and talking down small trees by batonning them with the NECKER.....Certainly a knife with less than a 3 1/2 inch blade is no substitute for a STIHL Farm Boss but it is amazing what you can accomplsh with this little guy and a club........

I am going out of town for two days but on my return I will be making some chips fly and hope to be able to figure out how to post some pictures of both the testing and some really lovely shots I took in Canada....Ya gotta bear with me on this guys....I am NOT very good at this whole computer thing but, I am peddling as hard as I can.

By the way...speaking of Thanksgiving...I will be spending the day AFTER
Thanksgiving at Smokey Mountain Knife Works in Sevierville hanging at the Ka-Bar counter and I would really enjoy having you come by.........

Please bring back the Machax. I always wanted one since reading a review in ASG (must have been around the mid to late 80s I think...). Never got a chance to buy one, and I have been looking on the evilbay and the exchange for a while. So, if you can get Kabar to do a Machax II next year that would be really great. Looking forward to it.

I have a new Becker Necker on order and do plan on using it primarily as a neck knife but I would like the option of wearing it on my belt or strapping it to my pack. Are Tek-lok belt clips (small or large) compatible with the necker sheath? If not, are there any other options? Can't wait to get my BK11, I've been kicking myself ever since I gave away my first one to a hunting buddy (he loves it). I just found out that Knifecenter ran out of the neckers and it's on back order so I'll have to be patient a few more days. Ethan, thanks for bringing back the neckers, it's been too long of a wait.
 
Hey 14Tango.....

As I pointed out on your other post, there is a Belt Clip available from Ka-Bar that fastens directly to the new NECKER sheath and is quite secure......Thank you for your kind words about one of my favorite creations.....I use one almost everyday, especially during the firemaking season and I still really enjoy it every time I use it.....Hope you enjoy yours at least as much as your hunting buddy does his.......

It would be so cool to have a Ka-bar forum, especially with all the Becker knives coming out.... :thumbup:
