Becker Necker, or EsKabar?

The 11 was 15% off on Amazon, and is now inbound :D
A wise choice my friend.
A very wise choice indeed...

The BK14 is OK, but it won’t pop the top off a cold one!

Well, it didn't stay stock for long!

Stripped the powder coat, eased the angle of the secondary bevel, rounded out the ricasso and index notch. Replaced the stock paracord with some "survival" cord, which has a strand of water proof tinder and braided fishing line inside. Removed the thumb lock dealie for now. Wrapped the handle while I await the ordered micarta scales! Then gave it a sharpen; it'll shave now. I very much dig it. Pretty much unnoticeable in terms of weight and under-shirt bulk.

I handled both the 11 & 14, I preferred the 11. After seeing all the pictures of naked and patina knives made me go get some stripper to do my own knives. Has anyone used gun blue? I think that would be a cool look on an 11.

I've used gun blue on some other knives before, and once on a sword. It looks really nice! A blued 11 with some custom micarta would be slick

You’re probably not going to want to use it for food prep after that.
Good point I never thought of that, not that it would be used for that but you never know. Better to be safe than too risk it besides there are a lot of nice patinas out there I just have to experiment.

Nicely done! Hope you will post pics when the scales get to you and you make them yours.

I like the way the metal looks - not fine scratched like a lot of others - what did you do to strip it, and how did you get the logo to stand out white the way it looks?

I used furniture stripper to bubble off most of it, then gave the whole thing a bit of a polish with a brass wire brush in a drill press. Gives things a nice satin finish in a minute or two.
