I posted this in the general forum and it hasn't generated much buzz.

It seems I stumbled upon this knife too late. What is a comparable knife in cost, size, function, etc.

I'm looking for a neck knife for edc and camping, something with enough blade to handle lots of cutting, but still concealable. I'll have a hatchet or saw so choppong/batoning isn't too much of a priority. Thoughts?

Woodswalker is a great one. It's kind of like a kitchen knife on steroids; it would probably meet your criteria and perform well.

Probably a blessing in disguise that you did not get the Becker if you are doing a lot of cutting. Its a good knife, just not very comfortable for extended use.

If you are not looking for high carbon steel, like in the Becker, the Simonich Crowfoot is a great user in S30V. Handle is much more comfortable than the Becker too.

It isn't really the same style of knife as the Becker, but I have been wearing a Mt. Sequoyah H.I.T. lately and really like it. It feels really nice in the hand.

Wow. I just realized how unique the BK 11 is. There really isn't much out there that has similar dimensions, and price.

Maybe hit someone up at the makers forums? Shouldn't be that hard to find one of them willing to do a simple carbon steel blade for a reasonable price.

Either that or get yourself a large worn out file, grinder, and steal the wifes oven for a little while so you can make your own....:D

Lots of responses...I knew this was the right place.

Now that I'm thinking about it, this is probably not a heavy user type knife. I am thinking about moving to a more traditional 3 blade pocket knife instead of a large single blade pocket clip folder. The pocketknife would handle most of the real work, while this is there for backup if a heavier knife is needed.

For camping, I like the idea of having a backup fixed blade. It probably would not be the primary user knife, but nonetheless there if I need it. Again, an alternative to a pocket-clipped folder.

The woodswalker isn't exactly the blade I'm looking for, but looks to be a great value
The Simonich Crowfoot looks awesome but is a little out of my price range.
The new Mayo is kinda cool, but I'm not sure how I feel about the slim profile. Something about it doesn't look quite right to me.
I like that Mt. Sequoyah, especially the smoke jumper. Wonder if that comes in a drop point design?

Thanks for all the responses...I love this place.

if it's strictly for cutting duties an ag russell woodswalker would be my vote I just got one and love it its mall and thin but is great for food prep whittling and seems like it'd be ideal as a small game and fishing knife although I have not tried it for that yet...it can be purchase witha kydex neck sheat fort 25.00 bucks the knife itself is only 10 dollars (an excellent value) I'll be ordering several spares this week

Just had a thought. (A momentumental occassion in itself!)

How 'bout an Ontario Rat 3 with the scales removed? You'd have to get some kydex made for it if you want neck carry, but it seems like it may be worth considering?

These are a couple I'm looking at some are a little short in the blad but seem to be well made... Ranger knives lil bird....Tops knives prarie fox wolf pup or sparrow hawk the ranger has the smallest blade and is about 45 bucks the tops knives are in the mid 70's let me know how it works out...I'm really into the neck knives.

Wow...I'm learning about all knids of companies. I like the Tops knives- especially the CQT mini. Still seems a little pricey though.

I'm 6'4", so some of those tiny blades just don't offer me enough handle.

I like the Rat-3...didn't realize Ontario knives were USA made.

Great ideas....knife shopping is fun

Bark River would get my vote. The mini-canadian is just about the same price only has a smaller blade. Take a look they have other models as well.

If that's true than the Becker probably isn't something you want to try out. I wear medium sized gloves and my hand just barely fits the handle.

I wear an XL glove, and when the PSK is cord wrapped, I can get all four fingers on board. I also have a Becker Necker, and for me, it is simply a three fingered knife that I don't care too much for.

Back? Where has Becker gone then?

I just ordered and received my necker in January - excellent little knife!

What about the camillus Arclite Cuda? Anyone with positive or negative experience with this blade?

Camillus, the most recent manufacturer of the Becker line, has closed its doors, Feb.28/07 (IIRC). Check out the Manufacturers (Camillus) forum above.

Has anybody had any experience with the Buck/Mayo Kaala?

A similar sized blade is the Busse Skeleton Warden, but the price is quite a bit higher than the Becker.
