Becker Necker Substitute

A similar sized blade is the Busse Skeleton Warden, but the price is quite a bit higher than the Becker.

It looks like the handle is a little bit longer and may be an answer for those that posted that the handle of the Necker is too short.

BTW, any time I have went to the Busse web site, I only find one model listed for sale. Is that the case, or am I doing something wrong?

You not doing anything wrong Doc. This is the Busse production/sales model for the general public. They only offer one or two (sometimes three) knives at any one time. Anything else you may want must be purchased on the aftermarket (eBay or BF predominately).

Thanks to a very generous gift from one of our fellow WSS posters, I am able to say that I own a Necker and it is a very nice little blade. One of these days, I'll have to beat it up some.

I like the idea of a neck knife with a skeleton handle to allow it to he tied to a pole to make a spear. Not that I actually think I'd ever need to do it...I just like the idea. I guess it's the Lord of The Flies in me.

 to the William Golding reference.

The Becker Necker is a dang fine knife. I agree it's a 3-finger knife. I find XL gloves kinda snug; with paracord on the Necker, it feels comfortable and balanced on my index finger. The 8 or 10 feet of cord and spear-a-bility are a bonus. I do like the short handle for "backwards" use, like peeling an apple with the edge facing my thumb. It fits in my palm really well that way, and slices very clean and thin. But it's not something I can really grab onto, and bear down on. So...

If you want to make one or have one made, I don't think it would need to be as thick as the Necker. Since you don't need it to baton, etc, it could be a little narrower, a little thinner, and with a longer handle. I think it would be even handier and it might be lighter, too.

As somebody has already mentioned TOPS knives make a quite a few in that size range and if you find one you like e-mail Newgraham for a quote and you will be suprised at how cheap he is !!!
