Becker necker vs next size up

Just received my necker after 3 1/2 week wait and was a little dissapointed in size. Maybe I should have gotten the next size up.
Anyone else feel under knifed? Maybe the handle is too small for me.

The next size up is almost a full pound heavier with 2 more inches of blade. Neither can really fill the role of the other.

You are right, I was just expecting something a little more stout. I waited quite awhile to finally get it and it still will serve as a great hiking knife (emergency/firestarting)

I find the handle short. I'm a huge Becker fan but I find the RAT Izula more comfortable in my hand.

Dawsonbob, calm down bro!! Just saying it was not what I was expecting.
An extra finger on the handle would help in my opinion. (less twisting in the hand) Also, letting the manufacturer know what some customers would like to see added in his design could be a good thing.

Sorry if that came across as upset: didn't mean it that way. Probably should have put a smiley on it.:D

I just meant that it is a necker, not a full blown knife, and it's meant to be small and usable ... and light.

Yes, the handle is a little short. For a long time now I've been nagging for a new Becker with a real handle and a blade length of 3 1/2 to 4 inches. I very seriously doubt that I have influenced Ethan in the least, but he did recently say that he will be showing some new knives soon, with handles smaller than the full size Becker grips and, apparently, smaller blade lengths, too.

Many people think that the BK-11 has a very good blade but — like you — think the handle is too small. Perhaps these new ones will address that.

I am new here too, and I did not want to sound like a jerk 1st post into it either. Sorry, I took it the wrong way.
Neckers for me are knives I attach to the shoulder strap of my packs so a little bigger would be okay for me.

Well, the necker is an excellent little knife, no matter where you carry it, but if the handle is too short for you, I'd say wait awhile. I have a feeling that you may see something that does exactly what you want in the near future. That's a guess, you understand: I don't have a timetable. I do, however, have a sneaking hunch that we may see pictures of the prototypes after the SHOT show ... or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part; who knows?

I will take your advice and wait. I also think something is in the works from all the feedback on forums like this.

okay you two, lets hug and make up :)

+1 on this. The Izula has a smaller blade but still feels like more of a knife than the becker because you can get all your fingers on the Izula. Still, for EDC I found the becker to be adequate.

I love the Necker but also have the handle length issue. To make up for it I have a paracord lanyard at the end of it. The lanyard give my pinky something to grip.

If that Rat/Becker collaboration goes through I think I'd be golden!!

Hey Donkey....

Welcome to the Becker forum......I designed the NECKER to be handy, lightweight, stealthy, and capable of taking abuse as well.......I have large hands (not hams mind you) and use mine almost every day........ I always try to emphasise that that no tool will fit every hand......Given that, I think that either hanging around your neck or zip tied to your pack strap you will find it a very nice package after you use it a bit......If you still feel the need for a bigger handle, try cord wrapping the handle (you should have found enough Paracord in the package to both do a lanyard and wrap the handle) or you may wish to get a Chris Reeve "Professional Soldier" which has a beefier handle-----It is one of Bill Harsey's better creations......

Please give your NECKER some use and then please report back to us as to your impressions.....

All Best....
