I got my Becker Necker today from a forum member, I also bought a small teklok for it.

Heres my problem,

1.When I wear it around my neck, it flops when I walk, making it obvious

2. With the small teklok any way I wear it, it shows.I tried handle up and horizontal(I wanted to carry it horizontally, but I didn't realize it would be that big of a knife) And are they only supposed to attach with one screw? Because I could only line up one hole.

Seems like I may need to buy or make the MERCharness. To me it screams "gun store commando or mall ninja" but so far it seems like it may be the only way I can conceal it.

Any ideas?

P.s. The Becker Necker is an awesome knife.

There's nothing commando about the mercharness. It's simply common sense. The idiots who don't wear a decent blade mock you out of envy and fear, which is a good thing. You could also go IWB, but I think the under arm is a great position.

Awesome.I has just assumed because it was made buy a former "big burly manly cop" and had the word merc in it, it would be considered "Mall Ninja". I think I may grab one, because my right hip for IWB is reserved for my future CCW. Thanks!

DAMN YOU BECKER NECKER. Thats what I get for not paying attention when I pull you out of your STIFF sheath. Now I have to clean the blood off my laptop lol.

Thanks again man. I really appreciate it.

I haven't cut my self this deep since I closed my CRKT m-16 on my thumb. To this day it hurts sometimes to bend it.

Its a great knife and im sure youll love it. Im not the biggest fan of the teklok for such a small knife. I dont carry it around my neck either, preferring it on the belt. During the winter with a jacket or coat on I carried it on a paracord harness like the mercharness. Now its horizontal on the belt. Instead of using the teklok, just take some paracord and make loops on sheath through the holes. Itll keep the sheath closer to your body and not stick out like with the teklok.

Heres a picture of how I carry it:

It doesnt poke into my body and when the shirt untucked its practically invisible. Been carrying it like that for a long time and no one that doesnt already know theres a knife there has ever mention anything about it

Zip's method is almost the same as my method. Only I use a few zipties passed vertically through the holes, and carry the knife on my weakside, with handle closest to belt buckle. That way I can cross-draw with my strong hand, or reverse draw with my weak hand. Works pretty well, does not show at all even with a thinner t-shirt over it.

Ooh I like that idea too!

Raindog, Tom Waits fan? or did you get the name else where?

I personally think that the merc harness is a great way to carry neck knives. And it works well for larger knives too. For concealed wear you may want to add a piece of cord from the sheath to your belt or a belt loop. I find that a knife carried on a merc harness still dangles and flops around a bit.

well its definitely mine now, it bit me reaaal good.

Seems like mercharness may be the way to go

Darbyfett,
Tom Waits indeed. Swordfishtrombone is a bit of a mouthful for a screen name!

Everybody that does any work at all with an edged tool will get bit every now and then. It's a reminder that we have to respect them at all times. :D

Now is a good time to brush up on your knife handling skills. :D

I was hoping thats where you got the name. I don't run into many Tom Waits fans. Swordfishtrombone, 2nd favourite, After rain dogs of course. The first Tom Waits album my dad introduced me to a few years ago. Singapore and 9th & Hennipen are my 2 favourite songs. though 9th & Hennipen I would consider spoken word.

I was focusing all my time on guns, then I realized I didn't have any good knives and well...its been downhill ever since, or uphill how ever you want to look at it:D . Oh yes I definitly need to become more aware of knife safety. Seeing as how once apon a time, I had nothing but bad knives and didn't know how to sharpen, none of my knives were sharp. Now im alright at sharpening and buying good knives, I need to focus a lot more when im handling them.

Darbyfett,
I would highly recommend "Frank's Wild Years", "Nighthawks at the Diner", and "Bone Machine", if you don't have them already. If you don't, shoot me an email and I can set you up. Sorry to hijack the thread, but Waits is worth it.

Darbyfett, there are two sizes of Tek-Lok. I don't have a Beckeer Necker to measure against, so I don't know which Tek-Lok is the right one for its sheath. But either one will stick out a ways, which you don't like.

There are other ways to fix a sheath to a belt that aren't as obtrusive, but hold more securely than rigging cord or zipties. Measure between the holes on the sheath and I'll see if one of my extra belt loops would fit it.

I has just assumed because it was made by a former "big burly manly cop" and had the word merc in it, it would be considered "Mall Ninja".

Naahhh ... Mercop isn't a former anything, he's for real. :D I've got one mercharness rigged for a very lightweight knife (Mission MPU) and another one for a heavier, thicker knife (Spyderco Kumo).

Another advantage over IWB is that the mercharness doesn't hold the blade so close that it corrodes, as IWB can. For a high-carbon blade like the Becker, that will be worth considering.

Maybe I'm off course here....and feel free to tell me so...But I thought a neck knife was a SMALLISH BLADE THAT YOU COULD REACH HANDILY IN ANY SITUATION...such as a Pat Crawford Falcon or some sort of Karambit. The knife in this picture could kill a Rhino. I EDC a Pat Crawford Falcon neck knife every day and nobody knows it's there and I forget about it half the time. If the knife you carry is that big around your neck it's no wonder if flops around...It's kinda like carrying a 50 caliber Barrett to go Squirrel hunting..........:D

I carry the necker IWB. I took a peice of paracord(bout 6" long) and tied a not to form a small loop. Slid the unknotted end thru a hole in the sheath. slid the sheath In the waist band and when I put my belt on I slide it thru the loop that is sticking out. Viola! Did that make sense? LOL
