Becker Patrol Machete :)

My understanding was that Ka-Bar doesn't have the capabilities to make a blade that large yet.

That's crap. What the heck are they doing with all my money then? :D Expand, improve production.

Factory capabilities? I'm no expert but they make 14" blades...

And large curves...

I'd guess it's more like they don't believe they have the capability to make a profit on it. Re-tooling machines and all is probably expensive. I'd guess they'd sell for somewhere between $100-$150 so it's a bit of an investment for a somewhat specialized tool that won't necessarily have a broader public appeal. I think they'd sell some but I wouldn't be surprised if the sales projections on this aren't that great.

The grass machete is made in Taiwan. The Beckers are made in the US. So what I should have said was that they don't have the capabilities to make a blade that large stateside.

Oops. I forgot about that part too. Good point.

I do know that there is something else that is super cool coming but probably won't be out until '15 or so.

Yup, it's cool, no doubt. But we STILL NEED THE BK6 TO BE RE-ISSUED !!! This NOT negotiable !!! LOL :D

lol. For sure. I'm sure Ka-Bar wants to they just need the equipment to make it happen. Personally I wouldn't mind overseas production if they could make it but I don't think the people who get to make such decisions feel the same way.

Awesome sheath. Does it swivel? Also, what is the best way you guys have found to sharpen the patrol machete? I've tried and never get even sharpness throughout the length.

This^^. I wouldn't mind a Taiwanese made 6 but I guess when it comes to keeping inline with the USA made Beckers...Hopefully whatever new large chopper they have in the works is a good substitute :D.

I've sharpened my BK-4 using sandpaper (400, 800 grit) wrapped around a PVC tube (then stropped it) and it has had the best results so far...

Nice! I Scored a BK6 blade blade a few years back on the bay after Camillus went bankrupt. I really need to finish the grind on it and get some grips, grip screws and sheath.

Wait... They can't make a bk6 stateside? I thought they were rereleasing the Reinhardt kukri next year...

BK6 is potentially too big...

RBK will be ... differently treated, so, heh heh, ah, speculation
