Commercial three strand twist is easy to splice, once you get the hang of it. You can join two lengths, or make end loops. Once complete, they are incredibly strong.

I watched this the first time around and then kept finding applications for the the Marlinspike until I sadly forgot it some time ago. Since then I've been trying very hard to remember it and couldn't. I'm very glad to have that tool back in my toolbox so to speak.
