Becker steel

I'm cool with 1095. But as long as we are dreaming here, a 9 in 3V, a 16 in INFI (yes I know its proprietary, but we are dreaming here) and a 14 in M4.

I would change it from the kabar 1095cv to rowen 1095. Also it would be nice to see s30v or rwl34 on the smaller one. cpm3v on the big boys.

I'm honestly curious as to why you would prefer Rowen's 1095 over KA-BAR's...
I've had a lot of experience with both and find them quite similar.
I hear a lot of folks say that Rowen's heat treat is superior, but what are those statements based off?
Not trying to start an arguement. I'm just curious and would like to know why you prefer one over the other.

I like 1095 it gives good performance and keeps cost down. A2 would be pretty cool and a s30v 16 would be interesting.

I've seen this same type of statement said many times lately, and most times people never seem to respond to it. I can't quite figure out what's causing people to say that, as its not like there is an epidemic of people with heat treat problems on their kabars. Not unless they're posting them on other forums or something.

Anyway, I'm ok with the 1095cv. If I changed things, it would be with the caveat that the geometry would change to get the most out of the new steel.

I'd primarily like to see 3v, and a2. I would also think that s7, L6, and o1 would be interesting.

But yeah, 3v bk16, in 1/8in blade stock. Thinner, lighter, just as tough, and more stain resistant. Sounds ideal to me :).

I also like A2 based upn past experiences with it but join the ranks of those more than satisfied with 1095CV.

As for the neck knives - Guyon in right, the BK-24 in D2 rocks. As for the the Tweeners and Big Dogs - if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

A bk 14/24 in M390 would be interesting. An RBK in 3v would be fun to test. A bk15 in S90V. How about a bk11 in ZDP @ 62rc.

mmmm no thanks, I'll stick to the 1095cv goodness :D

Wuhhhh? There's DIFFERENT KINDS OF STEEL?! Huh. Well in that case, I'd like a BK39 in 2.0L Turbo with an LSD and front mount intercooler or a bagged and body dropped BK17. Am I doing it right?

No. You need a V8 and bagging and body drops are :barf:

There, you've answered your own question.
1095CV aka 0170-6 aka 50-100B is closer to O1 than 1095.

Meanwhile, it actually seems like my idea for an uncoated k14/bk24 in 154CM, with Izula 2 handle size actually gained some traction... is there a way to bring it up to Mr. Becker?
If there's any chance of that being a reality, I am totally game, and it sounds like others could be interested as well.

Here's a question. Does Kabar have any affiliation with Buck? I'm even wondering about something like a BK11/BK14 type blade in Buck's 420HC with Bos heat treat.

With a nice EDC type blade like that there are just so many good options!

Imo i feel 420hc would be a downgrade from 1095cv instead of a upgrade.
