I am in the market for a good 6"-7" general utility/survival knife for hunting/camping/survival. I have narrowed it down to the two I like best:
1. Ontario RAT-7
2. Becker Combat/Utility 7

They are both compairably priced (under $100). Which one is best and why ?

I have the BK7, which is a little cheaper than the RAT7. It is a great knife, and I might say the most knife for the money. A lot of the guys on here routinely buy $200 + knives, I have yet to spend that much on anything without a receiver and barrel. The Becker is a great knife, but the general consensus on the survival forum is that they are both great knives...I am saving up for a RAT 5 just because it is a little less massive appearing for the California sheeple out here where I hike & camp. The BK7 looks massive in its sheath and I am a big dude. You can still pick up a NIB Becker 7 on eBay for like $60 shipped...great buy! Happy shopping! You could always get 'em both...

Finding an Ontario in the future will probably be a lot easier than finding a Becker. If you think you want a Becker, get it now. You can always get the Ontario.
