Beckerhead Chat

Why don't we have one? I am looking around at various places, other sites, etc... and one thing I find we are missing is a chat room. Sure would make it nice to be able to shoot the $#!+ with people throughout the day. Anyone got any ideas? Anyone capable of whipping something up?

I can provide hosting space if needed, but I don't have the know-how to make it happen. Anyone else think they got the kung-fu to make that happen?

oh, we do ;) champagne all day! woo!

could be amusing though... aren't there services that provide such things (google?) that you sign up for and provide some access keys? and voila!

Beckerheads only? heck, we'll even let Moose in...

Thanks for volunteering Bladite, let us know when it is up and running. :D

I don't think we would have much choice about letting Moose in. He would find a way.

Seriously, I am not sure of any other options, like I said, not really where my computer kung-fu is strong. If you can find something though by all means point me there and I will see what I can do.

we could use this thread as a non-becker related chit-chat, similar to esee's anything goes thread. i'll kick it off...just got my white box "solo" alcohol stove today to try it out and i'm impressed.

for those that don't know, here's a youtube vid of several alcohol stoves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqrCwIYbCa8

i have a hobo stove but an alcohol stove is nice if i just want a hot cup of coffee on the trail...not to mention there's no black smoke/burning smell that gives your position away while hiking off trail or stealth camping :D

Preposterous!

(I stored this pic on divshare.com to see if there would be any bandwidth issues with pictures hosted there. If not, it should be a viable alternative to people that worry about running out of bandwidth or storage space on services like photobucket or imageshack. I personally use Flickr and so long as your pic is under 1000x800 pixels you can post as many as you like, and thus far I have not had any pics disappear or give that bandwidth exceeded crap.)

Horton keeps a running Sticky callled Club Platinum (started out as Tony's Lounge). After it hits 1000, the thread has to be closed down and a new one begun because of bandwidth issues. Still, that might work here. Just start a thread and call it "Beckerhead Chat" or something like that.

The White Box Solo is good stuff. My favorite alcohol stove by far. Bill is also just a nice guy.

What is this stove you speak of? Bring it to me.

Derek, you can change the title of this thread.
Just change it to Beckerhead Chatter or something even better, and we're off and running.
Who needs a Sticky if folks keep posting to this one? :D

White Box Solo? http://www.whiteboxstoves.com

There's a bladeforums IRC chat now, would be great to have more people in it too.

IRC server network is irc.newnet.net

Channel is #bladeforums.com

Most activity is evenings after 8 Eastern or so.

The thing about IRC is that everyone needs to be online at the same time. That's cool if enough people log in. A running thread allows you to catch up anytime. Just my 2 centavos.

Guyon,

What pot are you using there?? Could use a little guidance here, I've seen so many manufactured from various prices, I'd rather just buy it once.. I've always just had some cheapy's, and here I find myself yet again needing another..

on the alcohol stoves, you can just use rubbing alcohol right? or is it denatured??

thanks,

rob

That's an MSR Titan Kettle.
Denatured alcohol, though the best fuel is HEET de-icer in the yellow bottle.

about a month ago my father-in-law calls me to let me know hes shot a hole in the roof I put on for him last Jan.. I'm like what:confused: he goes on to say there's been this woodpecker thrashing his siding and what not.. we'll after 6 attempts of finding this thing pecking etc, he looks up at the gable area and behold sees the bird on the soffet screen (inside), without thinking he shots it with 4 shot:eek:

wanted me to patch the roof with a racketball size hole before the rain, so needless to say.. knowing I like knives more then guns it seems, he have me this..

shoddy pic but is all I have at the moment..

Sorry it took so long to rename this. When I came home, I sensed that something was amiss. Now being that it is christmas time, I am not allowed to handle the mail or any of the packages that arrive. The reasoning being that I have the uncanny ability to tell what anything inside a box is merely by shaking/holding/sniffing it. My fiancee' didn't believe this, and on our first christmas handed my a package and said, "What's in it?" I didn't do anything with it, merely held it, and looked her in the eyes and told her exactly what it was. "Boxers, three pack, green, red, and black." I was dead on, and since then have not been able to mess with my gifts until opening time.

Anyways, sensing something amiss, I began looking around the house. I found the culprit next to the bed. A delivery box. Unopened. I looked at it (not touching it mind you) from across the room, and I am pretty sure it is what I have been wanting for the last year or so. A Maxped Monsoon gearslinger. Not Becker stuff, but something that will no doubt be accompanying me when the Becker does.

So that said, I changed the title. Boosh.

I got home today, suffering with an asskickin' cold, found a slightly used, TOPS XcEST with all the fixin' waitin' on me. Gonna enjoy this. Its my first stainless fixed blade, so, we'll see how moose-resistant it is.

Sidenote, I am looking for some new leather boots, perhaps Rocky's again or Danners. The Matterhorns are too much and too heavy. I like the Rocky's Mid top, semi aggressive hiking tread, I don't know what the name of them are, but I like them.

Moose

moose - take a look at Dunham. (New Balance's non-running show company)
they do a decent hiker, too.

I thought we were going with "The Becker Chatter Box." :p

My freakin' head hurts, and I'm not supposed to take ibuprofen with this antibiotic I'm on. My pecker will fall off or something. I've got to track down some acetaminophen.

Until I'm back, don't give any ground to the ESEE clowns. Yes, I know I have a RAT Pack # too, but the ESEE crowd are the ones who drew first blood, and so it's up to the Beckerheads to finish it.

Work? Sucks! School? Tedious! Family? Awesome! That's it, fellas. That's all I've got for now! Sorry.:o
