The Adamas and Rat-1 both hold that position for me. The Adamas is D2, which I love, and comes in price-wise around the ZT350. The Rat-1 is super affordable and tough, although I believe it's made in Taiwan and not the USA, like the Adamas.

To me, the Adamas is most similar to the nice thick sturdy feel you get from a Becker fixed blade. The Axis lock is rock solid. I know any lock can fail, but I trust it a lot more than a liner lock.

I'll second that and add that when you're ready to close the knife, the axis lock is very easy to disengage with just your left or right hand hand.

i dont own one but have handled a 561 and like it

i really like the compresion lock on my para military 2 though

if there is chance that lock is going to fail.. i would rather use fixed blade. i carry my folder knowing that there is always some small chance it will fail and i rarely do anything like batoning on my folder. for typical cutting tasks, i don't mind frame or liner lock at all. i heard great things about axis and compression lock, but after having some issue with my current edc, i have moved over to fixed blade for everything other than daily edc for light cutting tasks.

Well the cold steel rajah II is probably the ultimate. The stuff I've seen on the rajah III looks impressive and I think I'll pick one up soon.

X2 and by the way you will love them! The II is probably not the best EDC but its hard to find a folder that can chop down a tree lol if I don't have my bk14 on me I will certainly have my Raja III in my pocket!

I would have to say for a balance between cost, quality and materials used in construction I would go for the JYDII. The thing is a beast made in USA and the cost doesn't break the bank...

Oh yeah, I already have a II (probably shoulda mentioned that) and that thing will do some work! Have have taken a few small trees with it. I also have a pocket bushman.

That Benchmade 275 Adamas has my attention. That may be my next folder.

Yeah, gotta be american made. I'm not sure the ones in the poll are. I would probably go with a Benchmade or a PM2.

I think that the Spyderco PM2 should have been included in this pole. But since its not, I voted for the ZT 0300's. it's a big, beefy, hard use knife... Just like my 2:)
