Beckerhead MYB / "Spartan" Fitness May

Did a little hike yesterday at the NE Gathering location at the Slim Baker Lodge/Wilderness area. Probably a mile or less....but I was being chased by blackflys the whole way. They are excellent trainers: if you stop moving for a second or two, they swarm your head and fly up your nose, into your ears or try to get into your eyes (seriously?). Other than that, pretty much lazed around and shot the shit with old and new friends....and ate pretty well. Imma give myself a point, since I also did some hammock acrobatics, too. Gonna need to do a lot more core strengthening if I'm ever going to be a regular tree dweller, or I'm seriously going to hurt myself.

1+21=22 MYB pts.

35 mile ride in the wind today. Sucked. Almost all of it was crosswinds or headwinds. Better than no ride, tho. Came home and mowed the lawn and did some yard work -which included a bit of work with my JW Bensinger re-worked Bundock. Way more fun than the OEM edge.

11.65 + 22 = 33.65 MYB pts.

Played soccer with a bunch of 5-8 year olds after school with my son. Ended up rolling my ankle, continued to pay on and kick all their buts :D not very smart as I can barely walk on it now lol. Looks like I wont be running for a few days lol.

Edit: well it may be a little longer then I originally thought.

Doctor said it was a 3rd degree sprain and I should keep off it for 3 -6 weeks. I'll figure something out next week. Looks like I'm taking the rest of the week off.

this is a better year.

i'm stronger feeling.

playing with dogs, i'm more often likely to run than walk.

it's been coldish, so i'm going slower...

but i'm hoping to be quite stronger by season end, and perhaps less fat.

esp upper body.

climb climb climb...

i'll never be described as skinny again, i'm sure :D

just sturdy

Dang TBL, that sucks! I hope it heals fast. I guess you'll get a lot of upper body work in?

I've been moving my butt quite a bit lately, but I have been so busy I haven't updated the thread! Thankfully my fitbit keeps track of stuff so I don't have to :) Anyway May 5 I had 8.25, and since I've had +4+4+2+3+4+1+4.5+3+2 = 35.75MYB. (doesn't include ALL steps for my day btw, just the ones where I intentionally go running/skating/hiking etc.)

I've been slacking on my pushups though. I want to get back into that. I can still do a few though :D

Went for a walk/run (actually more like "survival shuffle") yesterday for the first time in about 5 years. 2 miles, ran (read: jogged) a little more than half of it. Not what I'd call fun, but I was pretty psyched that my foot didn't go numb. Since I tore my hamstring 5 years ago I really haven't felt comfortable running - and after the back surgery a couple years ago I figured that was the end of running for me. Lots more work to do, but at least I'm over the psychological (and physiological) barrier. I hope to keep at it.
Today was a 33 mile bike ride. The rain that was predicted thankfully never came. Spent the rest of the afternoon outside doing some yard work with my 20 and a Fiskars X27 Super Splitter. I'm tired.

2+11+33.65=46.65 MYB points for May.

Lol that was a couple years ago

myb: +2.5 = 30
bsp: +4 = 25 push up day!

Its been a little while, but I started stretching and moving again

myb: 30 - still can't really run or put too much stress on my ankle.
bsp: +3 = 28 - pushups - situps - and dips!

I then took out a bush with a 1.5lbs hatchet. Must of swung it over 100 times lol. My arms are tired.

Couldn't get motivated to do much last week. Saturday I went for another jog/walk; more jogging than walking this time. Ran for 20 minutes out of the 27 it took to do 2 miles.
Yesterday was a 32 mile ride. First half of the ride I managed 20 mph avg.....but the tailwind turned to a headwind on the way back - still a respectable 18.4 mph avg. overall. Still felt s l o w coming home. Then a shit-ton of yardwork until dark.

2+10.65+46.65=59.3 BP total for the month.

Glad to hear your ankle's on the mend, Tim. Nothing quite as aggravating as getting injured right when you're starting to see some results....or getting injured, period, really.

Thanks brother! Yeah, it sucks. The setback from being out of action for two weeks also sucks. But that's life. Been assessing my fitness goals this past week too. Result: I still want to get to a point where I can do some crazy yoga positions. The strength and balance required for that kinda stuff will help while playing with the kids. I also want to be able to run. Normally I do my 3 miles, but its between jogging and power walking. I want to train up to running the entire thing.

myb: 30
bsp: +2 = 30 - started working on pull-ups today. I need to get better at these. Right now they count as heavy reps, I want them to be light reps!

tomorrow starts a new month, the setbacks of this month will just serve as motivation for the next!

plenty of workouts in the yard. not so much the great physique. i continue to move stuffs.
