if i'm carrying a pack, it's mountainsmith backpack. for short trip, just one of their waist pack or some old book bag.

I think a lot of the newer heads have yet to try the fantastical-ness that is 5.11 packs. Would stop them voting for Maxped methinks.

Of all the available choices, I went with the ALICE. Rugged as hell, good value for the money and ugly. I love it! For write in though, Kelty MAP 3500.

Derek might be right but I voted Maxpedition. It's the only one listed that I've owned. The falcon was a little small but really tough and well designed.

The only correct answer to this is Ethans "Becker Patrol Pack"

Oh man, Max and 5.11 are neck and neck! I only own a Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon II of the brands listed and I love that pack as my day-hike bag so I had to go Max, but I would like to pick up a 5.11 Rush at some point (not sure which model yet).

Same here.
I'm liking that 5.11. Rush 24 though.

I voted Maxpedition Monsoon, that's my EDC that comes with me when I leave the house or am walking through the back woods. I like it, but I'm pretty confident there are better packs out there. No specific complaints for the Monsoon though.....

I don't have a Becker Patrol Pack, but I do have a Blackhawk Patrol Pack that is very similar (which may be why they are out of production...)
another favorite that's not on the list is my Duluth Wanderer Pack.
