Beckerhead West planning thread 3...2...1... GO!

Oooo, MWTIC and Skystorm are going to have a sheath-off! Everybody wins!

Ah, Oregon...
Haven't been there since about 2002 when we pulled into Newport on the ship. The Rogue Brewery is right there in the port at the base of the bridge. I only recall making it over that bridge once to get into town.... Every Rogue beer on tap, including that damnable Imperial Stout. mmmm....

So that means you're coming then; Right??????

There will be beer........

I would like to talk about the issue of dogs.

My vote is for no dogs this time around.

They scare off wildlife, poop all over (at least 4 or 5 of us stepped in some), they run in the poison oak and walk on peoples ground setups and stuff and get it all over the place.

Moose will try to behave better this time... :P

I'm with ya on that!!!

Okay it has been finalized. No dogs. Safety first I would rather not have dogs just because of all of the blades. OREGON can you check on fire?

Oh if you want to go please pm me your phone number as well as whether or not you prefer calls or texts. I want to be able to call if someone who says they are coming if they don't show to make sure they're alive. Gracias!!

Must have

Fire will be fine, it's the rainy season. Fire is fine there all year long provided the forest service doesn't put any restrictions on it. No one can predict when their gonna do that but April is sloppy ass wet here and there.

I'm not saying anything..... :D

hmmm...
never been to Oregon.
might have to consider a road trip if I can find fuel fundage. (a LOT of fuel fundage -- that's 1900 miles each way!)
have some 32" diameter elm rounds if anyone needs a hawk target and will be passing near me any time between now and then.
Of course, knowing my luck, the East gathering will be close to the same time.
that would be a tough call.

I'd like to make it, but who knows. Better take a group pic of your steel again this year! We forgot to at the East gathering.

So ive been thinking of fun things I could teach at this event and here is my current list I have going. Obviously I couldn't do all of them and still really enjoy the event myself but I think I could easily do three things on this list.

-Mingo could do another plant walk but gather and prep foods as a group this time since it will be spring
-Water filter construction
-Bow Drill fire set construction
-Burnt in bowls
-Super shelter construction
-Improvised Bucksaws
-Improvised Slingshots and shooting contest
-Finding and Making natural char cloth
-Making cordage the two strand twist

Captain Airyca, do you think you could maybe add a poll to this thread and ill just do the top three?

-Improvised Slingshots and shooting contest(ya know I'd win this one ;) )
-Finding and Making natural char cloth(Another great one IMO)
-Making cordage the two strand twist(This one could be fun)
