Pure class.

Maybe classy wasnt the right word. lol. At least he wasnt holding a lighter in front of the spray can.

You can have my number if you wish. I have likely DIS earned it. I like Becker knives but I gagged a while back on the incessant corporate mantra. Yup, there are many fine ladies and gentlmen here but a manufacturers site is also there to sell knives, which is perfectly fine. But it was being over done a while back and the sheep were just standing in line to repeat whatever silly trend was in vogue. ''Hey, let's all strip the coating off our knives so that they can rust easier and be more maintenance. Ya, cool idea bro.'' I wish all here well but I cast my net a little wider these days. Long live Becker knives and its brotherhood if it meets your needs. But I can't do robotic fanboi.

upnorth, looking at your Visitor Messages, I wonder if maybe some of the anti-BFC sentiment over there has rubbed off on you.
Don't know if it has anything to do with your discontent with this subforum, but I hope it all works out for you.
I honestly have no idea what you mean by "incessant corporate mantra" unless you mean just Becker posts.
If folks want general discussion, there's a subforum called General. This is the Becker subforum.
I don't take the coating off many of my knives, but I certainly don't begrudge the folks who want a certain look or feel.
Life's too short to get upset by such matters. Especially robots. Robots are everywhere these days.

Ofm4: I sincerely hope you have as much fun hanging out here and learning as I have.

In all honesty, I had never heard of Becker before joining BF. I had used Esee, and Ontario, for my hard use blades. After browsing around, finding this sub-forum, taking the plunge, and actually getting out in the bush using my bk2, I was sold! The community here was kind, informative, and honest about everything. I have learned more about knives here, than anywhere else I've ever looked. Because of that, im a Beckerhead, and I got 2 little Beckerheads in my home, that are in training.

I also do like this forum, mainly because for me the beckers were the first few "real" knives that I have bought where previously I gave only owned a handful of generic knives and Chinese knockoffs bought from the corner store that did the job but left a lot lacking. so I do have a soft spot for them.

I'm glad OP likes this forum, everyone does seem very helpful if a little biased, but what do you expect from beckerheads? I'm sure all the other members of the forum own other brands of knives and like them too, its just that mainly in a subforum like this most discussions will be pertaining to this particular set of cutlery and customising options.

I like what this forum is, which is a friendly place for people who like Becker knife and tools to discuss them and even pick the brains of the designer. Here i am living in Australia and be able to speak to the actual designer regarding his products is nothing short of amazing, I may find knives that I prefer in the future but I am pretty sure if I do, members of this forum will still want to hear about it, isn't that how the eskabar came about if I am not mistaken? I heard someone came up with the modification on a knife forum somewhere and the idea found its way to the powers that be.

Where do I start??? Hey, I am pretty green to this forum type of stuff, but I can say that the only reason I am here IS because of the Becker knives that I own. Im gonna try to keep this story as short and sweet as possible. A couple years ago I went out searching for a "go to" tool to use in an urban setting due to my job description... I came across the BK 3 TacTool, and decided it was perfect for my needs at the time, so I bought one and strapped it to my gear. From the time of purchase about year and a half or so had gone buy and I realized just how much "SHIT" I had put It through. AND ITS STILL SITTING HERE SMILING AT ME!!!! When I finally realized it; I started thinking, "What other tools does this guy or company have to offer that can fit into other parts of my life"???

As an avid outdoors man, survivalist, hunter, fisherman, prepper, gear head, etc at heart.....I wanted an all around knife to basicly be my best friend through thick and thin, or Campanion if you will ;) , while I practice my extracurricular activities. So I ran across the Beckerheads and Becker fourms, and boy did I open up an amazing can of worms when I started researching the knives of Ethan Becker. Thanks to Ethan Becker, Beckerheads, Skystorm Leatherworks, and myself... I have found my best friend the BK2, and some pretty damn good people too.

Thank you, Beckerheads, Ethan Becker, and all involved in helping me find yet another passion to add to my list: Becker knives

PS. Cant figure out how to post a picture or I would, and yes I did modify mine and It works for me like a charm.

I really don't feel like we sugar coat things. If there's a problem, we say there's a problem.
Yes, there are trends and tendencies, but that much is true of any social group.
I'm here because I genuinely like the people. And I know that folks are using their knives.
If upnorth is suggesting that we need more skills-based posts, then I'm down with that assessment. Bring 'em on.
Frankly, I've just been too busy with work to do much outside, but when I do get the chance, my Tweeners will be put to the test and there will be posts.

IIRC, there was someone (on here, perhaps, in General) who had an ESEE Izula and a BK11 and liked the ESEE handle and the Izula blade. He was taking welding class at the time, so he chopped the knives apart and tacked the ESEE handle onto the BK11 blade. The forumites went crazy over it, and that's how the Eskabar was born.
All recalled from memory from an old Blade magazine article (back when the Ka-Bar era Five came out)
Welcome to the forums, OFM4! I hope you enjoy your stay and have fun!

Dubz(Warrior) posted all the links to the evolution of the Esky recently. If I had more motivation I'd find them for you. Maybe check the database?
