Beckerhead's Other Choppers

Finally did my parangatang up proper with @Tommythewho zebrawood scales and @Diez Knives kydex...

What a difference! I’m very happy with it! :)

Both Tommy and Julio are exceptionally skilled craftsmen.
Very Nice GeofS :thumbsup: The Parangatang is one blade that doesn't come with much of a sheath. I was always nervous when using the stock Sheath in fear of the blade slicing right through it

Looks Beautiful!!!
But does it actually FEEL different.... it's been so long, but I remember that point biting me?
Really nice looking combo you have.....

I always believed My version was the Best..... but Yours definitely LOOKS the Best! Good job, Love the strips!!!

The point has never been a problem for me; it actually helps me retain the blade while swinging hard.

Apples to oranges comparison, your Beckerangatang is exceptionally cool. :)

This thread makes me need a parangatang! Anyone have a spare for sale?
It’s a great chopper. The best price I’ve ever seen for them is during KA-BAR’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, they went for in the $40 range. Over the past two holiday seasons, I’ve bought six and have given five away as gifts. I wish I bought more.

Good to know! I don’t think i can wait all the way until November though...

Look at it this way. You can wait for November to get your Backup #2 Parangatang maybe even #3 you know the Backup-Backup, So buy one now and a couple more when they are on sale and just look at all the money you have saved!!!
That’s the right logic!

Picked up this Parang for cheap. It's at least a 1/4 inch thick if not more and a FFG. The handle is cracked so I'm going to make a new one. I just ordered a natural canvas micarta block. Somebody tried the side grinder sharpening method. Nothing that I can't work out though. What really sold me is that Beautiful Patina it's deep and rich like the blueing on a classic Colt revolver.

I have one of those with a cracked scale and a bent tip - picked it up as a farm auction years ago and never got around to cleaning it up and making a sheath.

OTOH, buddy of mine had several trees cut down Friday and I was over there yesterday afternoon limbing them with my parangatang. (it lives in the truck)
his son saw how deep it hit and had to give it a try -- he may be ordering one of his own soon.
if the trees are still there this coming weekend, I'll head back over with my BK21, Skrama, and M18.

sounds like the makings to a good thread vik

I absolutely love the sound the tip makes when you add that last bit of snap to the swing right before it hits the wood.
whick-thump!
