Beckerheads Sound OFF! AK or AR, Why?

Nice ... very nice. Ain't gonna' break into your house anytime soon (lol)

What's the knife in the second pic at the bottom ? Ranger ?

One of the few knives that make a BK 2 look thin.

It's a Mathew Caldwell Model 1-6, Green micarta red liners, 6 x .250 CM154

on those 7.61 NATOS ... mmm, like that FAL :) is that a PTR-91? or a real HK? can't tell what that other one is...

need to see some Becker blades in these pictures ;) keep it topical ;)

as for upper swapping... sometimes that works great, and sometimes you get a bum kit that doesn't feet quite right/etc. for the cost, esp for 22 shooting, i'd rather have a dedicated 22 for that, ESP for plinking :) two two two guns is more fun than one. for accuracy though with 22 and practice, a bolt action is for me.

i suppose ONE of these days i'll end up with an AR ish platform, it's just a question of WHAT. the .450 bushmaster is just sick :)

It's a C91 Century w/ an Imbel L1A1 and a DPMS AR10

'Bout the blades, stock photos, sorry. Until it does, It won't happen again:p

ar-15 for me: ambidextrous, it's a lego for grown ups when it comes to modularity and ergonomics, accurate - anyone who's never shot a gun in their lives before can learn how to shoot a man-sized target at 200 yds consistently within an hour.

the ar needs to run wet...well lubed is not the same as need to be kept clean though. the need to keep it clean is a common myth and unless speaking from first-hand experience, this regurgitated info needs to stop.

pat roger's "filthy 14" bcm rifle was shot 31,000+ rounds with just one cleaning: http://www.bravocompanymfg.com/v/vspfiles/assets/images/filthy14_oct10.pdf. this is just one of many examples from reputable instructors/schools who've proven time and time again that an ar will run reliably while dirty.

i go to a pa range all the time. i welcome those who wants to test that cleaning myth for themselves with my own rifles, just bring your own ammo...my rifles haven't been cleaned in a year and it's running just fine.

First off, I agree with your observations on the AR's strengths. Very good points.

Slightly off topic, but had to speak up for the safety of anyone viewing your video.

I think it's great that you're training your weapon transitions, but if you safe that AR before transitioning to your sidearm, you'll reduce the chance of losing a toe/foot/calf/knee if you're moving in brush or any other environment that might snag the trigger while it's hanging centerline.

I see that you checked your periphery after "neutralizing the threat", so it's obvious that you've educated yourself/been trained. Please don't see this as an insult, as it as meant as nothing of the sort.

Just a friendly reminder that we should always strive to train how we plan to fight.

Most sincerely,

Taylor

good eye! the mag was empty - i had one of my friends load up the mag without me knowing how many live rounds are there (we sneak in dummy rounds there too to simulate a jam/misfire) but definitely putting the safety on (whenever it exists on the platform) is a great advice.

no insult taken at all and i thank you for that advice  pride has no business when it comes to firearms. the sooner i think i know everything there is to know about firearms the sooner i'll be dead!

Sounds like you and your training partners are on top of things to me.

I believe that short loading a mag and the dummy round drill is a great way to simulate FTF/FTE, so kudos on that.

I really appreciate you taking my observation the way it was intended. It'd be really neat if we could all have exchanges in this manner without ego entering into the equation.:D

If you ever have a concern/question about ANYTHING I post on this forum, I'm counting on you to return the favor.:)

Well don't have either true AK or AR but I feel I have A good compromise of both worlds. Saiga AK platform in .223. I get wonderful reliability with the ability to hump literally hundreds of rounds if needed. Only downfall high cap mags are expensive. Last time I bought some ran me about 45 dollars a piece.
