Beckerheads, What's your mess kit?

I do love my Sea to Summit Alpha Lite long spoon.
Was in the co-op (REI) yesterday and saw they were selling a store-brand titanium version.
I couldn't resist.

I've got a few set-ups.
In my truck, I always have a US military canteen, canteen stove, and a Trangia alcohol stove.
I have another similar (spare) set-up with the USMC version of the stove (closed bottom, burns gel packs). No pics of either of these.

In one pack, I have the White Box Solo stove with the MSR Titan Kettle and a Snow Peak mug. It all nests together nicely.

Hey Guyon,
What fuel are you using for your white box stove??

HEET gas-line antifreeze in the yellow bottle.
It's just methyl alcohol. Burns clean and clear.
So clear you have to be careful with it.

Do you have any issue with the HEET leaving a sticky residue on your cooking pot?

No, it's one of the cleanest burning fuels, I believe.
Honestly, I've only tried denatured alcohol (the SLX brand sold at Home Despot) and the HEET.
I think the HEET burns cleaner. No issues with residue on my MSR Kettle.

Next time I make some hunch punch, I'll try some Everclear. :D

I have been messing around with pop can stoves for a little while and have been burning denatured alcohol which leaves a bit of a residue. Not a biggie but I am down to try the HEET and everclear once I need to hit the booze store again. I like the idea of the everclear as it would seem to be less of an issue if it is spilled into a cooking pot.

Snakedoc, my pack and camera were sitting right next to me on the floor, so... here's a pic of the bottom of the kettle.
As you can see, the color has turned a little in places (which may be some residue), but no bad build-up of residue.
I don't wash the outside after I've boiled water in it. I don't have to.

Either an Army canteen / cup or a nalgeen bottle and the cup that goes w/ that. Maybe a spoon?

Beckerhead #42

Canteen cup a small pot with lid and a spoon. I have all the high tech backpacking gear also but sometimes just like to keep it simple.

My mess kit is carried in two TAD gear round pouches attached to my Falcon II. The kit contains two stainless steel Guyot bottles (one with a Human Gear capcap), two GSI nesting cups, a Snow Peak Ti cooking pot, Snow Peak Ti spork, MSR Pocket Rocket stove and fuel, homemade popcan stove and fuel (denatured alcohol) and wind screen.

I have a Jetfire Helios and a mess kit with Lexan utensils and Mountain House food. I really like their selections for food and it tastes remarkably well for freeze dried grub.

now i'm trying to picture an alcohol stove that nests inside a large knife pouch, preferably a Becker one :) though certain WITH a Becker knife as illustrated by Guyon's sheath carry system :) perhaps altoid based, or folding metal, or ...

so many stoves, so little time.

We need to get tradewater to post up a picture of his Bk-2.
He's got a nice pot lifter groove ground into the top of the spine.
I wonder how many other folks modify knives to function along with mess kits.

Found it. Picture stolen from tradwater's thread:

Oh yeah, and Bushman5's infamous BK-2 "Land Shark" also has a pot lifter.
