Beckerheads with disabilities?

Dude you're an animal..!!!! I love to hook up a sizable bass, only got one good one this year but I haven't had but one chance to get out..... time................

I have mucho familia in Ohio all around them parts :), maybe early spring I be's taking a trip out there, love to do some bushing with you folks..... show me how ohians roll :D

tell you what after seeing how you roll, I doubt anyone with the slightest disabililty would pair themselves up against you, way to go man, you're a big encouragement to all of us slackhounds..

take care man..

What a cool post and innovative ways to get out there and enjoy your craft. The boots on the crutches seriously rock. I don't have a disability to share other than my innate skills at messing stuff up. If it were easy, it wouldn't be near as fun. :)

Great post. I salute you, sir. Attitude is what counts.

Adapt, improvise and overcome.

I have shared camp with OLJ on more then one occasion. He is the real deal. Not much slows him down and he is always trying to push himself. It's refreshing. Plus he loves Beckers! Win Win

Holy shit guy. Mind blown.
I know a guy who goes by the screen name, "one eyed pete" But he's got both eyes and his name is Angus.

Good on you mate:thumbup:

I met Josh back in May at a BCUSA get together, The Hardwoodsman Meet in Missouri. Two things that make him number one in my book. First, after Iz Turley had his split wood fire contest, there was one younger bushcrafter that was having a hell of a hard time. Earlier that day Josh gave the kid a knife, cause he didn't have a fixed blade at all. But anyway, Josh just jumped down to the wet ground, (one of the reasons he has the nick name Dirt Merchant) and helped the kid get his split wood fire going. Always looking for ways to help people out. I know lots of two legged folks that are very disabled. There is no stop in this guy. I'm glad to call him a friend. I would never call you disabled, just short a body part.

Oh yeah, the second reason, He makes some Kicka$$ hard boiled pickled eggs.

Ross,

Josh, you are a true hero .

Glad to see you here brother. Good to see someone talked you into coming here, haha. ;) Lotsa good people around these parts. Bone cancer is some bad stuff. That's what took my dad's life at age 48. That was back in 86.

Warrior, I lost my mother to bone cancer some 30 years ago. She was 42, younger then myself today. I guess that if we had back then the treatments we have today, she was still running around...

Hero for SURE ! Awesome bass you caught as well. I know of a group called Disabled Explorers . com. He is active in a 4x4 van forum as well. You motivate people man !!!

OLJ is the baddest dude on BCUSA.

Also the luckiest at give-aways/ drawings/ contests. So watch out once he gets his Beckerhead number.:)

I make prosthetics for a living and I wish my patients were as active as Josh. You are an inspiration to us all. Glad to see someone who doesn't let losing a limb stop them from living. It just proves that you can still have a normal life if you want it. Keep it going strong man. Thanks for this thread, TA

My prosthetist is missing her right foot below the knee, like me. But what she wears on the job isn't a covered prosthesis: the steel pipe is exposed, and the socket above it is woodland camo. She participates in rock climbing competitions.

One Halloween she made a peg leg lower for it and went out dressed like a pirate.

You can't do anything about being crippled, but you don't have to let it handicap you.

I knew of a guy named ''tri pod'', that was in the Canuck navy. He was in high demand with the ladies....true story. Good for you Josh.

OLJ, you are one badass guy, thanks for sharing your story. I'm way impressed.

I think I don't appreciate my body enough, I tend to get pissed of by, when compared to yours, tiny imperfections. Without my glasses I'm almost blind, I had half of my left knee stitched back together after a nasty contact with an axe (April '11) so I probably won't ever be able to kneel down or fully bend my leg. My spine is twisted as hell and my back hurts most of the time. But you motivate me to just get out there and say "Screw it, that can't stop me."

Glad to have you here, Josh. Thank you.

Oh, and I love messing with people when they ask you about injuries. When I still had a brace around my left knee I used to tell people about crazy accidents during activities like skydiving, freeclimbing or downhill longboarding :D

Tons of courage. If I get a head cold I'm sidelined for a month. Awesome josh your badassness goes without saying.

I rarely come into this forum, and to be honest Beckers have never appealed to me. (Though it shouldn't be taken as a knock against the quality of Becker's product.)

But, I do have a great deal of respect for you for getting out there and doing stuff. I'm actually going through the application process for the University of Pittsburgh's Rehabilitation Sciences program, and one day I would like to be helping people like you.
