Beckers and tomahawks

GSOM, don't fight it...go for it. An absolute beastly chopper once you thin/convex the factory bevel, micarta grips, big honkin' 1075 blade...you know u want it :D

Oh, he doesn't really want one of these....:D

Not a lot of modification except for the short haft and sharpened bottom edge (this was a deployment 'hawk)-but these are a good pair. image.jpg
If the knife is much heavier than a BK5 I'd rather just have a small bolo, and skip the hawk-they usually outchop my trail hawk.

how are you liking that BK5?
that 1084 EDC you made me spends a LOT of time in my back pocket on the weekends.

Hi ZZ, That hawk started out as a Cold Steel Pipehawk. Lots of planning, drawing, filing and elbow grease brought it to this state in the photo.

So, I just got my first 'hawk yesterday (CS Trailhawk). I haven't had a chance to "really" use it so far, but so far I'm fairly impressed. It didn't come all that sharp, but it seems like it would be a decent chopper, and would do a fair - middling job at splitting if it needed to.

I'm curious about how it chops compared to a 9.

Also, where/how are you finding/building these longer hafts? I feel like I might like it more if it had a bit longer haft, but I'm not quite sure about it. Any thoughts on chancing the haft size on the CS Hawk?

Also, I got my BK15 at the same time, and I think its going to be fun taking both of those out next time I get some dirt time :).

I just got a norse hawk...and wanted to know if anyone had a useful link to help me affix my tomahawk head to the haft? It comes with a screw, but that seems silly. Something with wedges and linseed oil maybe?

I'm enjoying it-hopefully tomorrow it'll be used to quarter and process this year's whitetail...not holding my breath lol.
Glad you like that little 1084.
