Beckers and Turkeys

Nice bird makes me miss when we lived in bell and warren counties KY. In bowling green KY.
The Turkeys and deer would wonder all across our back yard one doe would come right to the back steps watching us. Thanks for the picture and bringing back some cool memories.

Thank you, and thanks for designing the 16. I like it more each time I use it.

cschol, OFFICIAL, and I will have to add some beckers and turkeys pics to this thread in May. The thread started off very well with a beautiful bird and becker. Lets keep this one alive through the season!

This is a great idea - good luck, and I look forward to your pictures.

I've shot one 3.5" while patterning. I'll not shoot another.

Holy crap 3 1/2" dang! I'm only doing 3" magnum 5 shot 12 gauge. I bet a 3 1/2 would kick like a beast.

Ha - yeah, it does recoil a bit. I'm not particularly recoil-sensitive, but if someone is it might not be a good choice. I suppose it depends on the gun, too. Mine is a somewhat heavy gun intended for waterfowl, and it's semi-auto, so I don't think it's too bad.

Guy I hunt with is using a Benelli pistol-grip-stock dedicated turkey gun. It's really nice, and really light. The recoil is noticeably "heavier" on his 3.5" vs my heavier gun.

MOCraig,
I've never owned a 12gauge semi, but always thought one would be fun to shoot.

I had to work this darn weekend so I didn't get to go out opening weekend. I'm going out Tuesday to a local farmers. I did some tracking at his land last night and found some decent tracks and even some light feather tattering from toms fighting. Pretty promising. I know just where I'm going to set up Tuesday AM. Wednesday I'm taking my brother-in-law out to hopefully get some out at my father-in-laws land. I'm hoping to add to this thread by week's end.

Don't get discouraged if you don't tag out after fly-down. These days, I rarely even hunt them in fly-down sets. I find it far easier to kill a bird between 10:00-1:00 than sunup. I usually just listen and wait at dawn. Tends to blow people's minds that aren't used to that tactic, but it seems to work ok.

Post pics when you tag him.
