Beckers are addictive...

You still need a BK9. You can't not have a BK9.

You guys are killing me. I just got my 5 earlier this week, ordered the 10 this morning and now I have to get a 9....ok if I must....(doesn't really take much convincing to get me to buy a knife,..especially a Becker...

I don't think you get that much for the price. It looks like most guys buy a knife for $75, then buy handles for $40, spend another $10+ stripping off the finish, another $40 on a better sheath. Add SS hardware, etc. IMO esee knives are the better value. now if u just buy the knife and are happy with it, then they make sense.

I had that same thought the first time I got my hands on my BK2 years ago. And I continue to have that thought with each new model I get. I am constantly amazed at how much knife you get for the price.

Do you have any Beckers? A BK2 costs $60 IF you want micarta thats $40 Esee has coating too so the $10 comment is irrelevant. Esee has a kydex sheath with some models but some folks dont like that either.

So for $100 I have a BK2 with Good handles or for $150 I can have an Esee 5 that still has no ergos and the BK2 has a better grind. Yes I have plenty of Esee knives the 3 is a great EDC size but Becker wins the value part hands down and still has better ergos.

Couldn't disagree more....

I know nobody will want to hear this, but the bk2 is a joke of a knife. My $6 Brazilian machete will out chop the bk2 in every way. Add a $20-$30 pocket knife to go with the machete and you have all bases covered. I have a bk10 and love it, but this love of the bk2 makes no sense. Sure, a big heavy knife feels cool in the hand, but their is no point to such a design.

The BK2 can make dam fine feather sticks as well as rip a lawn mower in half. I sorry but I fail to see how that makes it a "joke of a knife". I am not trying to be a smart ass but have you ever gotten a chance to use one? They are awesome performers and really shouldn't be written off so quickly just because of the thickness.

A BK2 isnt my favorite either but I was comparing it to the Esee 5 they are very similar knives so I guess that the Esee 5 is a joke of a knife as well in your opinion?

That is great, but , that is also your opinion....I am confident in saying that most of us that read the threads in this forum would disagree with you. And I think you are missing the most glaring point of all,.. this is a thread about liking, enjoying and being addicted to Beckers, in the Becker Forum.

Point taken... I enjoy Beckers. :)

ESEE can be a better value if you want the micharta and like their sheaths, they are worth every penny no doubt about it. But I'm getting into molding my own sheaths and I like the grivory just fine with some inner tube stretched over the handle. And with the beckers you can upgrade over time instead of dropping all the money at once.

As for the BK2 specifically, it's role has been discussed before. I look at it as a emergency/survival knife. Not my #1 go-to blade but it can handle a lot of tasks and is tough as nails. So I thinks it's great as a Just-in-case knife for day hikes.

my bk 2 seems too chop very well for a shorter blade i dont chop down hudge stuff thats a job for an axe but mine bites deep 4 or 5 in dia. trees are easy and thats all i need in the woods. also some skill in using knives goes along way.

Gentlemen, play nice.

Folks are allowed to come in and voice their opinion, pro or con for Becker Knife and Tool here. We don't stifle any person's perspective.

Granted, it is the BKT forum, but everyone here enjoys all kinds of different knives. Please allow them the courtesy and room to expound their opinions.

Cancow has some good points, and it is points on the position that I have heard since I got here. Doesn't make them any less valid or invalid.

Oh, and ya'll handled yourselves very well, for a bunch of BKT fanboys.

:D

GO ESEE!!!!!

Thanks for the interjection Moose. At no point was I trying to squash anyone's opinion or points. I do/did see the value in all things said both pro/con. I tried/try to be respectful in any post I make, if I didn't it was unintentional.

Oh, you're fine. Think of it as a friendly interjection, into a good debate, making sure the rules of engagement were spelled out.

Plus, I love using that pic of Jeff........
