I know we've got archers out there. Please feel free to post pics of your setups, be they target, 3D, hunting, traditional or compound. If you've got kills you want to post, please do. Let's try and get some Becker content in there, too.

I still have this bow; It's a '94 Hoyt Flashpoint - though I'm probably going to see if I can find a new home for it....the new Mission Riot is just so much easier to shoot. Also pictured is my Camillus BK-11 with custom Kryptoglow scales.

The range....this is the view from 30 yards:

The new Riot - this was my last end today @ 30 yards. Loving the new setup.

If anyone cares to know, the bow is set up at 60#/29" draw; I'm shooting some Victory Archery Decimators with 100 grain target points (got some Muzzy's for hunting season) with a T.R.U. Ball 4-finger thumb release. Trophy Ridge 6" Static stabilizer, TruGlo Rival FX 5-pin sight (love this sight; tool-less micro adjust) And an 1/8" aperture peep (one of the fancy ones with swap out apertures).

We have a few recurves for my girls to shoot (and one for me to shoot when I want to hit the broad side of a barn  ), I've been trying to get them into it a bit more - though I'll need to make a better backstop come spring - or be prepared for them to lose a LOT of arrows.

Anyway, I hope to see some activity in this thread. I know there are more than a few of you who shoot (and hunt with) bows.

Great thread. My bow lives a sad life of neglect all alone in its case. Maybe someday I'll have time and space to take it out regularly. Until then, I live vicariously. Let's see some more!

Up until this year, mine was only shot at the indoor range, and very sporadically at that over the last few years. I used to shoot league nights there many years ago. Luckily this has been a pretty lame winter here in NH, so I'm leaving the targets out and shooting when I can. Bladite has a really nice sportsman's club nearby that has an archery range (as well as a few gun ranges) that I had a chance to go and shoot at; maybe there's something like that near you? I find that shooting is sort of like active meditation - really kind of calming. It's also one of the top 10 sports for ADD kids (and adults!). It actually makes changes to brain function that affect non-archery areas of life, which is kinda weird - but then again, our biology is old and hasn't caught up with technology....turns out we're still wired to run and throw spears (and shoot arrows) for cognitive development.

@cut it out: Love the pics, but you can certainly add more than one per post.....but I love the pics just the same!

mmm, photos... i has a few :D

but not really of the compound as such, nor the long bow, or recurve...

yet :D

am considering a 70 lb longbow a friend has... pretty strong, but cool and apparently "worthy". mmm.

This is me and my wookie son. He's got a Bear Kodiak Magnum and I have a Howard Hill Halfbreed.

Awesome! So I got two questions for you:

1. Do you ever shoot squirrels with your bow?
2. How the hell does your wookie shoot that bow with a ghillie suit on? I can't keep the string off my arm when I'm shooting my recurve....

1) Yes but for every one I've killed, I've missed probably 10. Little friggers are hard targets. :D

2) He spent a bunch of time trimming the jute off that left arm. Looks like a bunch of trouble to me but he seems to like it. That and keep your stance way open.

I've got a couple. I'll have to take some more pictures.

Made this one outta red oak and poplar, twisted the song myself, added beaver balls, and some leather to the arrow shelf. A little over 40# draw at 30".

Nice! Been thinking about making one as well....certainly have the woodworking stuff down, but....afraid to disappoint myself. So....WTF are "beaver balls"? Seems like a waste to kill a beaver just for it's testicles.....

Go for it man! I'm not the greatest of wood workers and mine came out nice. Search red oak board bow in Google and on YouTube.

Beaver balls are strips of beaver fur that are twisted into the string and act as a kind of silencer for the string when hunting.

Really? I had NO idea....;).

There's gonna be some snark in this thread. Just sayin'.

This is my grail bow. A, discontinued, 2013 PSE Revenge. #70@30" with a rise of about 4.5-5", a 29&5/8" axle to axle, and shooting right around 300-315 fps. Gotta love the skull camo, too.

I bet there were a few expecting a primitive load out... [emoji41]

Lol. Last primitive bow I made broke on me. I'll be making another this year... maybe.
