Since hearing about the strike, I've been picking up a number of Camillus Beckers for use as camping/hiking/working blades. I've been pretty fortunate to uncover not only the Beckers that were in production recently, but also a couple of harder-to-find models like the Machax and the Magnum Camp.

Here's a quick pic I snapped today. I thought folks might like seeing a picture that shows relative size of all the knives in the lineup.

So far, I've only used the Brute, Machax, Patrol Machete, Combat Utility, and Combat Bowie. But the rest are slated for a lot of in-hand time in the coming months.

L to R:

BK-1 Brute
BK-2 Campanion (project knife)
BK-2 Campanion
BK-2 Campanion (serrated)
BK-3 Tac Tool
BK-4 Machax
BK-5 Magnum Camp
BK-6 Patrol Machete
BK-7 Combat Utility
BK-9 Combat Bowie
BK-10 Crewman
BK-11 Necker

Believe it or not but I saw a BK-4 Machax in a knife shop in Amsterdam today!!!! The handling is nice for a chopper but I really don’t like the extreme forward balance. It was about 200Euro!

Btw they also sold a BK-1 Brute for 180Euro, liked it more then the Machax but for this money i dont get me another Becker!

Awsome collection of Beckers

I did not realize how big the Comabt Bowie really was! I like all the micarta as well, nice touch!

My bet is that plenty will surface over time. Keep your eyes on FleaBay or the Exchange.

In the meantime, if I see a BK-6, I'll let you know.

Guyon,
What do you have on the handles of the BK7 and BK9? Is that some sort of heat shrink rubberized material?

Nah, just a piece of bicycle inner-tube. You have to stretch and twist it like the dickens to get it on there (best to do it with the knife *in* the sheath... just ask my left thumb), but I think it does improve the grip a bit.

Why not just inner tube over the standard scales? I like the shape of the micarta scales. They're a little blockier, but they fill my hands better. Also more durable than the polymer in the long run, I think. No evidence from usage to support this assertion... just knowledge of the materials themselves.

Nice collection, there's some cash in that picture.

Mountainwind I'm looking for a BK6 also, so you may have some competition..

I have found a great user machete in the Ontario 18" Military Machete. I sold out of both the regular and the sawback at the show last weekend. Its inexpensive and its made for working. I will be getting some more in a few days. I' will post the on my site when they get here.

Tom was running low on the micarta. I bought 11 sets from him. The last set was for that BK-2 project knife, and at the time he said he had one set left, but maybe he's scrounged up a couple more since then.

Went out yesterday and limbed a tree with the Machax. Very fun. Very efficient. Also chopped the trunk in half when I was done limbing. I was impressed again with the ergos once on this knife. It's odd looking, but it works.
