When i was younger we used those as "swords" for fencing. The stems hardens when plant dies kinda like "bamboo-light". No one told us kids then that it was dangerous stuff...
Different times. Like jumping off the roof with a bed sheet nobody paid no mind or just figured it was natural selection lol
Tanker, ,,, I was just researching Jimson weed, cause I forgot what the name was. Jimson weed is all over the place here and my neighbors property is infested with it, and I was thinking it was poisonous and told him and he didnt have a clue. Jimson doesnt bother me
Then I started researching plant identification where I hike and train my dogs. And I Id'd the water hemlock. Me and my dogs have been tramping through water hemlock for ever and I never knew it was poison and ive chopped it and handled it bare handed then dipped some skoal and me and my dogs never died .
Danny, It dies here in the summer too, 5'-6' stalks , just all dead and dry. previous year dead stalks are amongest the new growing stuff. "bamboo-light" good one
One good thing, the field where I train dogs now, I havent seen any rattlesnakes. They were all over where I used to train. Rattlers dont bother me at all though.
As kids we rode bikes with no helmets, rode in the back of pickups, and didnt have stupid I-phones like the kids today,,,, My God.... How did we survive all that !
