Beckers

I am really starting to love these "which one" threads. Every number conceivable always gets thrown at the OP.

Except for the 3. Where is the 3 love?

Get a 3.

I'm editing this...totally read that wrong...

Anyway...

I'm in the 16 camp. It'll cover all your bases as a great hip Knife at the ready for just about anything you'll need that requires a good, basic hip Knife. I would recommend an aftermarket taco style kydex with a dangler and it will about disappear. If you shop around and do your research you'll be in at around $100 which to some(like me) might get a little sticker shock at first but in the long run worth every penny. I had a slew of Beckers before I finally grabbed one then I understood.

The 14/24/11 is what I'd say is my equivalent to a pocket knife. I don't leave home without it. Rides in my back pocket opposite my wallet and now I feel naked without it, as I would if my wallet wasn't in the other pocket.

If your looking for something larger, my choice would be to skip all else and go straight for the 9! You'll have one eventually once you get your first Becker so if your looking larger, just do it!

I know, I was about to suggest the BK-266. I mean, that one's a no-brainer, right? :P

The real question is which model calls to you the most.

sheath rattle can be fixed

i love the sheaths on the 15/16/17...

they're as close to the old Eagle sheaths, and they were great...

also they had flocking inside. soft. no rattle :D

I am thinking about getting a Becker. They seem like reliable fixed blades at a decent price. My questions is, which one to start with. I just want a good serviceable blade with a GOOD sheath. I want a sheath that won't just let the blade fall out.

No one has mentioned my favorites, the 12 & 7. We'd need an additional category for these: Hiking in areas where self-defense is a possibility. For my own purpose I added Skystorm sheaths -- better at riding on a belt than the sheaths you get with the knives -- IMO.

I like the 16, but i live out in the country on quite a bit of land so my use might be different. It is a nice general purpose knife for around my property and camping.
