I'm looking to get a big knife (5-7 inches) for splitting & prying, that's reasonably cheap. The BK7 or crewman or companion look like exactly what I'm looking for, but they're outta production.

Any word on when they're coming back? Any ideas of good substitutes for them? thanks.

Becker is going to start producing knives with kabar, but no-one reall knows when...I would check out the Rat-7 and the ranger knives rd-7 both tough and around the same $$ as a becker (during production)

k-spar, shoot me an email. I might be able to hook you up.

The RC6 from RAT cutlery should be out pretty soon, I'd pick one of those up. Looks to be another example of being top in that class.

Haha. Alright, I'll fill you in.

The necker will look the same as the original. There will a limited edition model, as seen in the picture. Later they will will produce the one on the paper, which can be used as a screw. The kydex sheath has a nice distinct click when the knife is put in. Price range is unconfirmed, but will be around $50-$60. The steel is suppose to be a lot tougher.

Ranger knives sounds like what you're looking for, check out the RD7/RD9. ;)

I agree. I've handled the RD9 in a Ranger Knives passaround and that thing is no doubt a beast.

rangerknives.com Justin is great, call him for any questions and he'll help you out.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. The ranger knives and the RAT knives look great, but I was hoping for something cheaper. I've seen sites that used to sell the beckers selling 'em at about $50 bucks for the BK7, and $30 for the necker. I guess the new line will be more expensive?

I`m surely gonna pick up one of the new becker neckers when they come out. Maybe even one of them there fancy special edition sandwiched ones aswell?
Now, if i only could figure out what dealer gets them first....

Thanks MRpink
New Becker Necker looks nice, can't wait to see the rest of the line up The old wish list keeps getting longer and longer:)

New becker looks cool but if it is only ground on one side I'll have to pass. I can't stand chisel grinds.

Just a heads up, a lot of the tests he does is what you're NOT suppose to do to your knife, but it does give you an idea of how much abuse it can take.
