Hi all, I am looking for suggestions for a bed side flash light to go with my Hinderer and Kimber 45. I love quality and simplicity. Nothing fancy, when I hit the button I want it to come on every time. My knowledge of lights is 0. I have a five cell mag light I got in 1980 (still have it and still goes on when I hit the button) so maybe time to upgrade. Thanks in advance for your help.

Bedside with that equipment.....Surefire Fury P2X.
I like yhe dual output ( low output first) for middle of the night. Quick click to 500 lumens IF the "bump" deserves more attention.

Klarus XT11.

HDS 200 ROTARY from my pocket dump nearby. Several other lights from various manufacturers all nearby.

4Sevens Quark 123. R5 LED, uses 1 CR123 lithium battery, multiple modes including a "moonlight" mode that is perfect for checking on the children and giving you just enough light to navigate a dark room.

OR

Olight T10, R5 LED, CR123, 4 modes.

Both lights are compact, powerful, and affordable. I have had both for several years and am very pleased.

Thank you everyone. I will check out each of these. There really is nothing like this site. Thanks again

Bill

Fenix PD32 ultimate edition. Over 700 blinding lumens at one click, strobe, SOS, and 4 lesser outputs on a side button. Easy to select any setting using one hand while your 45 is in the other.

JetBeam RRT-0 XM-L. It's 550 lumens & no bigger than a 3.5" XM-18.
Variable output 0.1 lumens to 550 with a simple twist. Comes with a glow in the dark rubber tail switch if you don't like the black. Replaceable self defense stainless bezels & a 550 lumen strobe mode, talk about blinding an intruder in the middle of the night!

Maratec aa from pocket, and Fenix tk35 in drawer ( think helicopter search light). Fenix ld40 is always with me on calls. The Maratec lasts over a month with daily use on one aa. All are more than bright enough for practical use, and both Fenix lights could be considered tactical. The Maratec is great because it will stand lens to ceiling and light a room. Oh yeah almost forgot, I keep an old electrolumens tristar, triple D cell in my jump bag.

I'll elaborate a bit on my Klarus XT-11 choice. It's not too pricy, takes a rechargable 18650, it's not too small, has an anti-roll ring and easy to find tail switch(es).

You wake to a noise in the night (indoors or outside) and decide illumination is necessary; groggy, you can easily reach for the light without it rolling away from you on the nightstand. And the anti-roll ring, overall size of the light and large head let even a sleepy person know which end is which.

It's 600ish OTF, one touch strobe with second button, and quick access to lower outputs once on.

If you really want simple, and dead-nuts reliable, a surefire c2 (or 6p) with a malkoff m61 module. If you prefer 2 mode (hi and low) , make it a malkoff md2 body with a hi/lo ring and the same drop-in. If you want off-the-shelf easy, the fury or one of the fenix lights should do you quite nicely.

I keep an "old school" Fenix T! w/the Q5 emitter. Great throw, probably around 200+ lumens on high, simple U.I. and it runs off a couple of CR123's for a long time.

It can tail-stand and is quite compact.

Low tech by todays standards but a tank of a light which has been with me many years.

Fenix LD20 lights up the room and and will temp. blind anybody when it hits the Face.! (my under Pillow light.)
