Beefy, overbuilt folder under $100?

That's what I am saying! And to say it has the thinnest liner you've ever seen? He must just be having a laugh or something.

And yes, get rid of that link. Kershay guy will always be cheaper anyway. I believe he price matches.

Haha then I'm having a laugh, too. Seems pretty set in his decision that one of the toughest inexpensive knives on the block is barely capable of opening letters. I used mine plenty, even outdoors. Never let me down.

And for the record, I've had Emersons and ZTs that lockup close to 80-90% and they still kick ass out in the field.

I picked up my orange ZT 0350 a while ago for a paltry $119.00, and it's about as beefy as one can get at this price point, and made in America to boot. If you know how to shop, you should be able to find a 0350 real close to your $100.00.

I see you're in Washington-- take a road trip down to Tualatin, Oregon on the weekend of December 5-6-7. Last year at the Kai factory sale I picked up a ZT 0200 for $75 and an 0350 for $69; they also had Blurs for $39, S30V Blurs for $50, 0561 for $120, and 0301 for $150.

Cold Steel Pocket Bushman is way under your budget and capable of pretty much all utility tasks. For the Cold Steel Triad locking knives, take your pick but I would go with a Recon or Lawman based on what you say you need.

Zt ain't bad either.

Woah so many options to pick from here! Utilitac, Rat 1, Zt 0350, CS AK's and CS Recons seem to be the big standouts here. I may just have to pick up 1 of each. Yalius, I didn't realize there was a KAI factory sale, I'll definitely have to head down there that weekend and see if I can't pick up something awesome, it isn't too far away from where I planned on being that weekend anyway. I love my Griptilian, I used to carry her every day, but it seems like she's seen some better days, she's a tough blade, no doubt.

Buck CSAR T PRO. Again.

At around $100 you get a USA-made 154CM beast of a knife with thick G10 traction scales. It's like the poor man's Adamas. Although the CSAR T is still on my wish list, that Russian dude on Youtube did a pretty good job trying to destroy one, and it held up really well. So forget those Cold Steels (Overpriced Chinese Wannabes, yes I went there ), put the Utilitac on your want list for later (also on mine), and buy the Buck. You can thank me later.

The Esee Avispa is a very tough knife, but a bit lighter than your requirements. Huge fan of the Rat 1 as well.

They are not made in China. Get your facts right before you slander another person's recommendation.

my recon 1 is made in taiwan, along with several very good SOG knives i have, taiwan is far from chinese made in my opinion, but as for the quality control on the buck CSAR T, everyone agrees thats its a massively built solid folder, but ive seen too many complaints about the blade being off center and rubbing the liners when closing and things of that nature,....enough to turn me off of it a little bit, that would have to be a knife that i get to see in person and make sure everything is lined up correctly before i buy, but cs recon 1s are a must own for every knife guy, just feels really good in the hand, and a pretty quality knife in my experience

Hey all, I'm on the hunt for a new knife again, but a beefy and overbuilt folder. I like heavier knives so 5oz and up would be nice, pocket clip, tip up carry would be nice, but not a deal breaker, about a 3.5" blade length. I'd like the knife to be equally at home on the construction site and in the woods. It would be used for dressing game, making fires and fuzz sticks, general cutting...and I've even found myself using my CRKT M1 as a shim in between a wall and a piece of pipe at work. It wont be abused, but it'll be treated a bit rougher than my prettier blades like my 890. I wouldn't mind a premium steel, but the typical AUS-8, 440C and the like would do. Something I could touch up easily with my pocket stone.
Overall, what I'm looking for:
About a 3.5" blade length
One handed opening (flipper, studs, wave)
Decent blade steel (154CM, Aus-8, 440C, ETC.)
Heavy 5oz +
I don't really know where to start in the regard to a overbuilt folder, but I'd love to hear what you all think, so any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thank you everybody!

SOG Spec Elite II. 100.42 in amazon.

I work for a company that sells tons of knives. The latest and greatest bargain folder I have come across that is built like a tank is the boker plus Squail. Nothing compares in the 100$ price range.
