I had the 7 and the 9. Sold the 7, kept the 9, bought a 5. BK9 is a chopper, but the BK5 much more versatile at bush craft.

Get the 9 first. I find I use my little knives a lot and the 9 a lot. Not so much the 10 or 77 (don't have an actual 7 but it is next) Mid sized knives don't get used much by me but that is only me - others will have entirely different preferences. I use the 15 in the kitchen but so far not outdoors.

Let me say that I have both a 7 and 9. They are both sexy. Yes, the 9 is may be more sexy, but its kinda like thumbing thru Sports Illistrated Swim Suit issue. The 9 is the covergirl. The 7 is the content. Get the 9. You are going to end up with both anyway. I love the 9 but really do like the 7 and use it a lot!
