Beer and Blades!

Awesome beer and awesome knife! I'm sure the Belgian monks would also appreciate the simple elegance and down-to-earth efficiency of this particular blade :D

Yep i agree, though they might scoff at my pouring, maybe there should be more head. It is a great beer, and the sebenza is awesome too.

Our office buys beer for us every Friday afternoon :D

My SR-1 D with a local fall seasonal.

Very nice knife.....more of an Allagash man myself!! Cheers my fellow Granite-stater.....

I love Allagash! Shipyard definitely isn't my favorite, but it was free, so what the hell =)

I find all Shipyard beers to be solid, but few are great. My favorite new england brewers include Allagash, Long Trail, Gritty's, Red Hook, Belfast Bay and Maine Beer co. to name a few.

Cheers!

Try the 120 minute. Had two on Christmas was easily the most I've ever felt 2 beers. Highly recommended.

Oh, I've had it. It's a sipper for sure. At 18%, it's basically a super-barleywine. I prefer 60 minute to both of them, but sometimes I'm in the mood for some more oomph and I'll go for the 90.

I am back from a little outing and I must say that the interest and effort that you people have put into this thread brings a tear to my eye. I believe that Fred's little tree frog compadre really is tops.

So before I break down and all... I should probably make another contribution myself.

Deschutes "Fresh Squeezed" IPA from Bend Oregon with my ZT0200st. The knife has proved undoubtedly strong and the IPA has a likewise strong (slightly fruity) hoppy flavor. After the first sampling I looked at the bottle (the logo gives it a fruit-like impression) because I thought that perhaps the marketeers had gotten one over on me subliminally. However, there is a reference of "Citra and Mosaic hops" but no actual fruit additive. So THAT prevented me from throwing it out. The subtle fruit-like flavor is not bad at all and quite good actually but the idea of a fruit flavor additive was not appealing to me. Since that aspect of the flavor is allegedly from the hops that is OK by me... :groucho:

A little down time for some decompression and a cold frosty Lagunitis Lucky 13 along with some appreciation of a fantastic Dan Winkler BELT KNIFE with textured micarta handle that I acquired at the 2013 CCKS (California Custom Knife Show). The Blade steel is (IIRC) 52100 and this appears to be sharp as a spot-light at midnight compared to the beer which is buttery smooth... ;)

If you can find an older batch - pre-2008 I believe - the ABV can be over 24% as they bottled them at higher ABV's and they left more yeast to ferment in bottle. I will say that I found this year's "vintage" to be disappointing compared to previous years--the hop flavor was not as well balanced and it had more rubbery hop notes rather than piney.

I'm gonna have to make the drive over to Delaware just to get my hands on some. Damm

Here's a repeat, though it seems relevant.

Threadjack alert:

What year is that Horseman? I've never seen that type of "regular" looking wave on an 8-series. The "nub" style wave they usually have has long been a turnoff to me.

Haha no worries. It is a 2013 model. It also has switched over to standoffs.
