I was delivering the last load of what was my old shop to the dump yesterday and came upon a beer keg. It followed me home, since I can't imagine I can't find a use for a 15 gallon stainless steel drum. It has the top cut out in a circle that ends about 2" from the rim of the handle ring. I was thinking maybe a forge? If nothing else, it will make a sweet trash can.

It could become a big forge, perhaps small with alot of insulation? Slack Tub? Woodstove? Barbeque? Two Hi-Bay luminaires? The list goes on...

I am making a small forge right now. i was thinking a vertical forge, but I'm not sure. I do hear they are the cat's pajamas.

Make sure that it is actually steel and not aluminum first. ;)
It's steel, either that, or I am really getting weak. But even if it was aluminum, I don't think a properly insulated forge should get near hot enough for aluminum to be a problem.

Well, on the home distillation/brewing forums you would use it to cook mash in. In the strongman forums you would fill it with concrete and carry it. Here, I think garbage can or work stool are the best uses.

Forge body
Slack tub
Quench tank
Put a seat on it and it is a work stool
Fill with concrete around a 4X4X24" hardened piece of 4140 to make a great post anvil
Flower pot for your weed plant ... Oh, wait, you are TSA ... never mind
:p
